Since I got back from Spain, this dry cough wonít go away. It was worse at first. I had a runny nose & a stuffed nose. I didnít go to the doctors at first unfortunately since we have no insurance. I shoukd have.

I took OTC meds which didnít help much. I them went to the doctors & got on antibiotics. That only helped a little. The prescription was for 30 days.

I coughed more at night sometimes or when lying face down especially at the chiropractors office.

My cough was so bad that I felt like I was choking at times. I also lost control of my bladder & leaked a bit at home since the coughs were so strong.

I got sick in March & itís almosr December niw. I got on 3 different antibiotics again & am still coughing!

I got a chest xray recently & it came up normal. My husband smokes 3 packs a day. I unfortunately ninge drink often due to being extremely depressed & anxiety about lots of things.

So that doesnít help matters. Iíll try hard to stiop with the binge drinking. Iím at my highest weight ever now too, do I need to stop or I wonít fit into any of my clothes soon anymore.

What could be causing this? Could I have some type of lung cor throat cancer? Iím going to get a throat xray soon.

Is your husband smoking in the house? Your second hand smoke then and your cough could be smokers cough.

Did you have covid? I coughed for three months after I had covid the first time.

Only doctors will know. See a doctor. Asap

Its either stuff coming down from your sinuses, or going up from your stomach, acid reflux. My mother had a chronic cough the last decades of her life, it drove me mad.

Is there a way to detect that? Yes, my husband smokes inside the house & his car when Iím with him.

I donít have COVID. I took a test & it turned out negative. Sorry to hear that you had it. Thatís good that youíre better now.

I saw a doctor twice. Meds only helped a little bit. I got a chest xray which turned out to be normal too.

Right now I only get a runny nose occasionally. Most of the time I have a dry cough wiith throat irritation. It tends to be worse at night when my husband is home. Maybe the cigarette smoke triggers it. He wonít quir ir smoke outside at night, ugh.

I had cough for many weeks on end in 2006 that was so bad that I had to go on short term disability. It probably was whooping cough: it was during a period of time when pertussis returned due to low vaccination rates. When I had it, I experienced stress urinary incontinence. I could not help it. I later saw a urologist and she determined, through a painful test, that I have a shorter urethra than most women. Women have a short urethra to start with, compared to men, and mine is especially short. She offered a surgery. I did not want to do the surgery because I was afraid of it, did not consider the problem that bad, and was especially concerned that surgical messing up in this area might render me unable to have sensation and orgasms. I went to see a pelvic floor physical therapist. Back then it was a rare specialty but now there are practitioners in this area. She was also against the idea of a surgery and she gave me exercises. I recovered and since then have never had a cough as bad as that, and when I do not cough, I do not leak. When very occasionally I get a cough, I leak: I think it is just not possible not to given how short the passage from my bladder is. Since I am pretty health physically and rarely get coughs, this problem does not worry me. Leaking when coughing is common in women and I would say if you do not leak outside of coughing, I would not worry. If you decide to get really serious about strengthening the pelvic floor muscles, there are exercises for it but you would need to be seen by a pelvic floor PT and for that you need insurance.

Sadly not having insurance and not regularly seeing a doctor will cause you more and more problems as you age. Thatís a scary way to live. You might want to legally separate so you can qualify for Medicaid due to low income.

If he smokes in the house and in the car, then itís obvious that you experience second hand smoking. Thereís nothing that needs to be detected. Heís endangering your life by smoking around you on a regular basis. Your x ray being normal doesnít mean you donít have smokers cough. Of course it could be something else. If youíve been coughing for 6 months, you need to see a doctor more than 2 times

It is important when you see a se again to tell the dr what you have told us here, that the cough would not go away and that ABs did not help.

I experienced second game smoke all the time as a child due to my chain-smoking father who smoke at home and in the car. I am free of it now and it is such a blessing not to be forced to be a second hand smoker. I am lucky now to live in a completely smoker environment in California. Second hand smoke is terrible and you are a powerless victim

Regarding being at your highest weight: 24 hour fitness is currently running a promotion, 2 years for the price of 1. It is certainly not a posh place, but many people like it and say that the group classes which are included in the membership are the best and even better than at expensive fitness centers. You might want to look into it while the promotion lasts. You need to exercise and take care of yourself. If you exercise, your clothes will fit better even if you do not lose weight.

There are air filter/cleaners that will remove smoke from the air. We bought one due to the local forest fires in the summer, and they really help.

I called my doctor yesterday. Iím going to get two referrals today. One is for an ear, nose & throat specialist. The other is for a urologist.

Sorry to hear about your dad. Thatís good that youíre in a smoke free environment now. I doubt my husband will ever stop smoking. Heís an addict.

Iím going to see an ear, nose & throat doctor soon. Iím waiting for a referral today from my doctor Theyíre slow unfortunately.

My friend offerto loan me money to pay for my medical needs which is nice. Iíll try to save up money to get insurance. I applied to another much better high paying driver job thatís f/t that pays $38 an hour. Hopefully Iíll hear back from thrm soon. I can afford insurance if I get that job.

Go to a doctor asap. I went to an ear nose and throat person last year and they put this scope up my nose and down my throat (to my voice box).

Are you taking any medications? I know some blood pressure drugs can cause a cough.

How about Gerd or silent reflux?
