I feel like I am looking in on another person, and that person has the same body as I do, but I don't feel totally integrated as one right now. I hope this makes some sense because I do not know how to describe this any better. I feel like this other can do things, is less vulnerable than the core person. Does this mean that I have another entity?

Maybe this will help? This is from PCs Conditions and Disorders page. Hope it helps.

Depersonalization Disorder

SYMPTOMS

Persistent or recurrent experiences of feeling detached from, and as if one is an outside observer of, one's mental processes or body (e.g., feeling like one is in a dream).

During the depersonalization experience, reality testing remains intact.
The depersonalization causes clinically significant distress or impairment in social, occupational, or other important areas of functioning.

The depersonalization experience does not occur exclusively during the course of another mental disorder, such as Schizophrenia, Panic Disorder, Acute Stress Disorder, or another Dissociative Disorder, and is not due to the direct physiological effects of a substance (e.g., a drug of abuse, a medication) or a general medical condition (e.g., temporal lobe epilepsy).

Entity.....? I love it...it's so cute!!

I'm assuming you mean identity? I'm not trying to poke fun at you, it's just that your comment brought a smile to my face, which no one's really been able to do lately.

It does not necessarily mean you have another identity. WantToHeal made a good post of defining depersonalization for you.

Sometimes with depression and other disorders, one can have some dissociation, which it sounds like you're experiencing. It feels very strange and can be quite scary. Just do your best to acknowledge these feelings and try to remember that they don't mean you're crazy. It sounds like your mind is just finding a more creative way of coping with your current distress.

If you have a T, I suggest telling her about your experiences, as I think they would like to know. The experiences that you are describing may be new to you and uncomfortable, yet they are not uncommon.

Know that we are here for you!!

Take care....

Hi Elysium,

I did mean entity, not identity- for whatever reason I came up with that word! Thanks for your kind words. They were very helpful.

(((slick399)))

wantotheal posted a great link ~ hope that you checked it out.
Depersonalization isn't real fun for me either. It can be a disturbing concept to hear & feel yourself talking to someone, but you aren't aware of thinking those words. Unnnerving.
