I have a really really hard time knowing if I've taken my klonopin or not.

Does anyone have a system for knowing what they've done, med-wise,when they are switchy???? I keep thinking I could write it down, but not all of me seems to "get" that I'm supposed to do that, so I might be taking too much or none at all.

Confused!

They sell pill boxes in the grocery store for a week at a time. The little boxes are labeled with each day of the week. You can even get ones that have space for multiple doses within the day, if you need that. If you can remember to fill it once a week, then you'll know if you've taken your meds that day because the little box for that day will be empty... Just an idea. I have trouble with this sometimes too.

well... in theory, yes. in actuality, no.
we have 2 pill boxes; one is a double for am/pm (before breakfast, after dinner) that is kept in the bathroom so it is the first and last thing seen. the ohter is a 3 time planner that has break. lunch. dinner. and this is in the kitchen for pills taken with food.
thing is.... sometimes we dunno the day, or think we already took them and didn't, or think we didn't take them and take them again.... or we think we took them because the box is empty, but then later find them in pockets hours or days later...
and then they all decided to go off the celexa cold turkey. so! that was that.
Not very encouraging, i'm afraid
***hugs!***

(((((((((((((((Treehouse))))))))))))))) This is such a struggle for me too. Same as Kiya, I have tried pill boxes but struggle with knowing the day too. Can hubby help you remember? Or maybe use the pillbox next to the computer so you can be sure to find out what day it is? Maybe if husband will fill it each week for you, you can make sure to know it's done so you only have to worry about the day itself?

Best of luck to you.

I use the pillboxes but also forgot sometimes anyway. I think that I do better if I just take the pill at the exact same time everyday. This way I don't worry as much about what day it is because if it's 8 a.m. I just take it!

Like all of us, I struggle with this too, and make mistakes occasionally. The only suggestion I can make it that if you could put the pills in a container like the one mentioned and then: place a small notebook beside it and make sure all parts see that the notebook needs to be signed with the time you take the pills. Put a sign up to tell all the parts to tell them about signing when the pills are taken and this could help you see who is taking them and what time they get taken.

If your hubby could help you set this up it doesn't have to be complicated. I just find the hardest thing for me is remembering when I take the meds. The group of one-a-days at nightime is not bad but the meds spaced out during the day I often get timing off or wrong. So, just putting initials and time each time you do a med is a small thing that may give you more order and better results from your meds. Some meds taken irregularly may not be good for you and they can actually be bad for you.

Sadly, I speak from experience! I hope you find a way to keep this orderly for your needs and peace of mind.

Thanks everyone. It's just so frustrating that something that seems like it should be so simple is so complicated. But I guess it just is what it is. I'll try to get a box and make a list and see what happens.

God, I have a big problem with this, too, and no matter how many organizers I buy. I never used to have this problem but it's really bad. Not only do I have to remember taking tons of pills but I have to take insulin several times a day and many times I just do not remember if I took it or not, and then sometimes I take the wrong one. That is the worst, when I take a huge amount of short-acting insulin instead of the long acting one. Usually I am so tired by that time at night, and then I have to stay up for another 4 hours and stuff myself with about 2000 calories just so I won't pass out. It's so horrible! BTW, this was my first comment and I know it's not very interesting! Welcome!

yep it could be really hard to remember specially if you take a lot of stuff.

we made an election and asked who wants to do the meds and then everyone got to have a vote and we picked one. it made him really proud made him feel way important. we call him the medicine man just like out of the movie and he likes it lots. my brother made him a badge that says medicine man on it. just him and no one else takes care of the meds and he uses a pill box.

the election was fun and we made up voting papers and used crayons. the big people helped the kids mark the paper. we had a ice cream party for a celabration.

we like doing our own stuff by our selfs when we could do it.

How do you figure out how to do all this when you cannot even remember if you took your meds? I am totally retarded these days, and this is way above me. figuring out how to do any of this. i give up.

It can be difficult treehouse and kat but if/when you are not so confused you could try a pill box as well as a personal organizer/phone/computer. I have entered in the dates and times (on these electronic devices, yes sometimes all three just in case I am not near the computer etc.) to take the meds and through out the day the alarm goes off and I go to the pill box and take the meds required. I ended up finding that my phone was the best option as I took it everywhere.

Hope this helps just another option.

Some pharmacies have programs where they prepack your meds in bubble packs. They have the date and time of day to take each bubble pack clearly marked. You don't have to sort anything or worry if you have everything you need. Your GP, Pdoc or T should know if there is a pharmacy in the area that does this.

I've used this service and it's still possible to get mixed up, but it's a whole lot easier than trying to do it by myself because I take so many different meds.

I try to do all of the above and I try to remember to turn my med bottles upside down after I take one dose and after the next dose right side up. It is an ongoing struggle especially when we are stressed or trying to move into new territory in therapy.

Also, we have an "executive secretary" who is usually quite good at remembering to have someone write it down when the pill box doesn't work. Sometime she too gets over ruled by the upset alter who is pissed or scared. But we have to ask her to give us extra help because usually she is quiet and does her job in the background. If we ask her directly she will be very helpful with the meds.
Hope this helped.
