Kasva,
Welcome here, this sounds really hard and sorry to hear all of this burden on your brain and life in general.

So far our thyroid has been okay although I haven't had it check in about a year but perhaps others can shed any light they may have.

Welcome to Psych Central. That sounds very stressful. Do you have a Dr to help you get the thyroid stuff stabilized? I think it can take some time.

I don't have thyroid problems, but I do struggle with getting medical help because I tend to dissociate pain and symptoms. I try to make regular appts for checkups because of this, though that is hard because a month and a year are the same for me as far as time.

I hope you feel better soon and are able to get your thyroid regulated soon. From what I just read when I looked up thyroid problems, it does seem to affect a lot of things, including memory and other brain stuff.

Feel better soon, and again, welcome to Psych Central.

Hi and welcome kasva

I had thyroid cancer surgery in June. They removed all of it and I take levothyroxine. Supposidly my thyroid is regulated but I don't feel like is at all. I have never had such extreme dissociative episodes as now and when I get into a depression, it's much darker than before. That probably doesn't quite answer you but , yes, I feel nuttier than squirrel *****.

Thank you..thankyou for everyones response. This is such a great forum..it has helped me so much in just the few days i've been on it. when we are feeling really distressed (which is a lot lately ) we know we can come here and feel better enough to not do stupid things.
I'm really sorry that there are others who have this thyroid thing (i know others have unique medical issues too)...if i learn anything useful to help with the brain i'll let people know.

Yes, me too and it got so much worse after taking lithium for bi-polar disorder. I feel like Multi-pixie, don't know how it affects me, how to sort out what's what. I just give up, it is what it is.

Take care, and hopefully, in time, your levels will be regulated and you'll feel a bit better.
Hugs if safe.

When my thyroid levels are unbalanced, my hands shake on their own. I didn't know this was due to the thyroid.
I have mostly hypothyroidism symptoms, but 2 years ago, my thyroid went back and forth from hypothyridsm to hypethyroidism.

I don't have thyroid problems. I do have DID, and I have hypoglycemia, so I get shaky and tired and sweaty and almost always switch when I'm low on sugar. It sucks to have a chronic condition, and it sucks to have DID, so logically it sucks even worse to have both!

Hi kasva,
The last endocrinologist I was going to waited to see if it leveled itself off, and it did. The unbalanced thyroid index happened at time when my life was filled with lots of stressors and I had been taken a herbal supplement that I bought from a health food store ( it contained eleuthero root which is similar to ginseng. Ginseng had previously caused my hair to fall out and gave me amphetamine-like energy).
Right now, I don't have any hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism symptoms. However, I had hypothyroidism in my childhood. The doctor gave me a pill, but mom didn't keep track of how I was improving in terms of index numbers.
