Last night i was going to bed, and I think I had a conversation with everyone inside and I am not sure if a new alter has been created to deal with therapy. I feel the presence of someone new, and it feels rather strange. Does this or can this happen?
Thanks for this!

For me no new alters were created. Sometimes though I had alters that I thought were new only to find out they were there the whole time they were just at a deeper "level" than some of the others. my system of alters worked kind of like orbits around the earth there were many alters on different orbiting levels circling me to protect and take care of me. As we worked in therapy and took care of things on one orbit, the alters on another orbiting level came into my awareness. My therapist and I took things one level, one alter at a time. Being here Ive read some posts where some people have said its like peeling an onion. you peel through each layer and with each layer comes new things and sometimes new alters you didn't know was there that you have to deal with. I like the onion idea too. makes sense to me.

I'm still new to being aware of these parts being a possible reality. My experience is that there was one that just showed up out of the blue (whether he was there all along or not, I don't know) with what seemed to be the intention of sabotaging the relationship with our new T. The harassment started inside solely, with him trying to convince everyone that seeing this T was wrong. When I told the T about it, she made an invitation for this one to communicate with her, and I hate that she did that because it's not been good since.

Not sure if this helps, but that's my experience.

Yes new alter can develop but more then likely if you are just starting therapy it is an older one that has been either awakened or has decided to join in on the public discussion. Just the fact that the newer part is choosing to participate is a plus now to get the new parts to work together is the next step. Good Luck from all of us.

Yes... new alters can appear at any time (or) it is possible for an alter to hide until it is ready to be known. My suggestion is to love her or him as you have always done with the others.
