Answer any door safely
Look through peephole / window
If needed, give/show ID Steps to person
Ask who is there
Do I know their face?
Do I know their voice?
Are they in uniform? (Police, Fireman, Doctor) Ask for badge.
Are they safe?

I have psychological issues and am currently experiencing difficulty.

I will need to complete the steps on this Safety Card to ensure my safety.
Emergency contacts are listed below who can help. Please call them for assistance.


Safety steps when scared or threatned:
Look at person through window or peephole
Do you recognize this face?
Ask, "Who is there?"
Do you recognize the voice and the name?
If no to any of the above, are they in uniform - like policeman, fireman, or doctor?
Ask, "Can I see your badge or ID?"
Does the badge or ID match who they say they were?

If you don't feel safe, keep the door closed and locked until someone you KNOW is present to help you.

We found this online. We have our own inner card but never thought to put it into wrighting. Hope this helps some of those here.

Isn't this a fabulous idea. So many good ideas! I would add to that for me covering up one eye then the other till internally calmed down and maybe also a 'hotdog' and maybe some smarties.
