So... yeah, I'm bored, and got to thinkin and a random question popped into my head.
how did you come up with the system's name (if it has one)?
Like I know justdontknow has "the hotel", Hunny has "the Hive", Dianasclan has, well... the clan (no pun intended)

For some reason, the hubby had taken to calling us "The Nation of Amanda"... I don't know why he started that.
Our system's not big enough to be a nation. LOL... we only have nine that we know of.
I'm thinkin' we're more like a communnity... or maybe a colony.

Anywoo, I think I've talked too much and probably bored ya'll to death. LOL
So, yeah... I'm gonna shut up now.

That is a brillent question! We have a garden or maze that we live in.. I think it is kinda like the same question as why are we here in the first place... or why we are caled our names. It maybe just fits. How do you diside the name of a child sometimes there is a reason sometimes there is no point at all... that is just my idea though. Keep the questions coming! I love thinking!!

I never had a name for my system of alters, and I never gave them one as a collective whole system. some of my alters had names and some didnt. my alters individual names came from what type of alter they were, what emotion they were created for, people I had contact with that I admired at the time the alters were created, some were named after cartoon characters, classmates, pets, book characters, but they never had a name for the whole collective system. probably because my alters were so diverse, individualized with virtually no co consciousness between most if not all of them.

we do have clients that once they have realized and accepted the disorder and accepted their alters come up with a name for the whole system. usually when I ask them how they came up with the name their answer is that the name for the whole system helps them to remember that the alters are parts of them and the name describes what the system is like.

example one name is the tree of life. the host gave the collective whole system that name because they were mapping their alters and the way their system emerged, began reminded the host of a family free - this person split into this and that, this alter split into this that and the other, on down the line

another name a client used here is the fair grounds. they named their system that because their mapping looked like their local fair ground with many different "attractions" in one body.

you can name your system or you dont have to. I have found around here naming the systems is more a personal choice based on acceptance and willingness of the system to work together, hence having one name to fit all.

Ours is called the Hotel because that is where we all live inside. It is a building just like a hotel. We all call it Hotel Cris and someday when our book is published, you will remember that and then you can read all about us.

where we live is a secret place so thats why we call ourselves the secretplace dwellers we also have a castle and seperate houses behind there and some dark place we dont go into

yeah... we have a dark space too. It's scary. That's where most of us came from.

We have worlds and I can remember all of these worlds from the time I was like 3 years old I can always remember having certain worlds. There is the Island World, Maze World, Special World - mainly kids but they also are all throughout all the worlds, We have an Evergreen/Rainforest World, we have a Darkside but not "dark" people live there, we thought that evil ppl might have lived there but in reality they are the protectors that prevent the evil ones to getting to the rest of us.

I asked my Psychologist this not long ago, asking him how in the world did we get named? So no Miracle it's not a stupid ?. He said that by the time a child is 4 years old he/she knows alot of names but then my doctor doesn't have DID so there fore I give him an A+ for trying.

I thought everyone had worlds so it shocked me when I learned other kids my age don't have the in-depth worlds as we do and did and I believe we function mainly out of those more often then not.

I had a pdoc that told me a system name usually has to do with how the system works or what they see themselves as or just an overall impression of the whole. We just went by Dawn's system for awhile as it seemed it was really about Dawn but then as she became more accepting of us and we discovered others, we decided on whisperings as that is what it sounds and feels like. Plus people usually whisper secrets and we have lots of those to one day tell.

We never had a name for the whole system, but some subsystems had a name for themselves. I wonder if the degree of internal awareness, acceptance and /or cooperation has some bearing on whether systems (or subsystems) are named or not? I guess there could be many, many different reasons why a DID system (or subsystem) would if or what to be named.

Miracle, I have had dreams of the same house for over 30 years. It has always been fullofchildren and teens and others. When I first learned they were not just a dream was when hubby described one of themto me...things I had done...while I was asleep. The next time I was in T and the alters came out while I was awake...1st time I was conciously aware of them.
But always in the same house...I call it The House. Some of them have shared their names with me, but thios is all very new tome...only happened last month (T session).
Those that live in The House:
1. Baby ( infant)
2. Little Jean (3 yr old)
3. Jeannie ( 8 yr old)
4. The Stair Steps ( 3 little girls that alllook the same and dress tha same and are 6,7, & 8 yrs old).
5. Two Teenage girls, one black & one white...I do not ahve their names, yet. ( both about 14)
6. Tiger Lady - she is mean and angry and I do not talk to her unless I have to...very critical of everything. She says my mother's words, all the time. ( age unknown)
7. The Perfect Lady - met her once, she never spoke, attends to the perfect appearances in public.( early to mid 20's)
8. The Student - she loves life and loves learning and researching. Only met her once. (early tomid 20's)
9. The Grown Woman _ only saw her once and have no name for her yet. Do not know her purpose. ( age unknown)
10. Jacob - He tends to the control of the system and keeps everything running smoothly and protects the defenses. Even against me. (Late teens to early 20's)

This is allI know so far. But things have been coming in their own time and I am learning as we go. I hope this has helped answer your question...many hugs and support from The House..
