I'm not 100% sure if this will be allowed in the forum as a thread but my purpose for this is for purely educational purposes. I was wondering if any persons diagnosed with DID has experienced with marijuana. I have done a lot of research into medicines once prescribed to help tear down the walls of memory loss and dd's. These medicines include things like LSD and psilocybin mushrooms. These medications can cause you to dissasociate, unlock repressed memories and give you much more in depth thoughts of life and its meaning. These were apparently all looked at as pros back in the day.

Well my question about the marijuana and DID mix is, I'm wondering if it too causes the same effects in DID patients as the halluconeginic medications. And what is in those medications that causes this gap to become a little more narrow?

In my past experience with marijuana, I noticed it did a number of things from making me look at life in a new perspective to dissaociating and watching myself from across the room. The strange thing though is the dissociation that seemed to be influenced by the marijuana was a lot less intense and a lot less scary to be honest, then the dissociation from the medications my pdoc gave me.

I was diagnosed with DID in 2001. Since that time I am only certain of one thing, there is some form of dissociation beyond the normal scale that I have been experiencing.

I am NOT in any way promoting marijuana or any other illegal or non illegal drug even, I believe the mind should be worked out and sorted through without medications or the effects of any chemicals being added at first and only after the inner strength begins should medications of any form be considered, but I am just curious of any other persons experience with this.

Marijuana is legal in some states for medical reasons, I'm curious as to why I haven't read about this being used to tread DID patients like I have read about LSD and even MDMA being used. Both of which I would never recomend to a DID or any other person. So I'm just curious if this was ruled out as "marijuana is the devils plant" or if there is a legitimate reason for not trying this to help DID patients. Or even if I am the only one who ever experienced those effects from any substance/medication relating to marijuana

sadly, no one knows how any chemical will affect any individual~~ so,, there is a risk in taking any "med", legal or illegal... even alcohol for some. there was a time when both LSD and Marijuana were helpful to me, but i would never offer them to anyone, as i am a responsible adult. i don't have DID, but do have some dissociative inclinations,, and the added push from brain altering drugs helped me to bridge the gap. now, however, i am recommending a much safer, non-chemical therapy, called CenterPointe auditory (sound) technology,, you can google it,, try it, read my post on it in the Alternative Therapies Forum, (posted in early October),, or try it for free with a sample from CenterPointe Research Institute.com,, i don't recommend the companies who sell this technology for recreational use. best wishes,,, Gus

Thank you Gus. I do comepletely agree that I would never recommend any form of drugs, especially since I'm not a doctor lol. I'm mostly only asking because it doesn't make much sense to me that they would give someone with DID a halluconogenic drug. I also didn't know if anyone had similar experiences with cannabis and dd's having a strange effect. I was on 1,250 mg of Lithium and 75mg of seroquel for ages and all it ever did was cause me to dissociate on a different level. No co consciousness or anything of that sort which was what my pdoc was trying to help with. I didn't know about what you have written about above and will look into it. Mostly I am asking for educational purposes. I'm not one to self medicate, or medicate at all actually. Just curious as to what helps some people with DDs and what doesn't. Thank you for your reply!!!

Hubby is DID and tried it many times some years ago, however it started to make him feel paranoid and not in control so stopped using it.

Hope that helps !
