K, I guess I'll make this into 2 parts.

The colonoscopy went OK. They did find that I have Diverticulosis. So I'm on a high fiber diet and have to take benefiber everyday. I have to go back and see the doctor again in 4 weeks. Ok that's the Ok part of the day. And the fact that I've gotten to eat.

Ok the bad parts. I woke up REALLY REALLY bad. I started screaming and pulling out everything when I was waking up. The doctor told my husband that normally only children wake up like this. When hubby told me that later today and said he was thinking in his head if the doctor only knew. My husband said he could see that it was like all my others was waking up one by one. He said that after this morning he has no doubts what so ever of the dx of DID. He said it took 4 people to hold me down and stop me from banging my head on the bedrails. The doctor was really nice. I can remember him holding my hand and rubbing the top of my head saying I was OK and to calm down. That was all I can remember about it. It really scared my hubby. I've slept the rest of the day. So this is how my day went. Packed with fun.

glad its over for you. so glad it is not cancer. they found swelling of the diverticulum ducts/sacs with me too and as long as I stay on my diabetic 2 diet that includes 9 servings from the breads/cerial/starch catagories I have no further problems so here crossing fingers for you on that.

Sorry about the reaction waking up.

It makes me mad at your therapist. He/she knew you were DID so he/she should have explored whether or not there were memory pieces containing bad doctor/hospital experiences and then prepared you by letting you know while you were experiencing those memory pieces what the procedure was and that they would be safe. For that matter all therapists are supposed to check for any possible problems with their clients before they go through such procedures to make sure before had the know what to expect and are completely ok with what is going to happen and then they schedule follow up appointments within days after the procedures so that they can check in with the mental health problems that may have occurred as a result of the physical problems and treatments. I have had 19 different therapy personnel in my life and not one of them didn't take the time before any of my physical health treatment plans to address the procedures, stress, any possible adverse reactions and after care issues. That should not have happened to you regardless of your mental disorders. If that therapist was mine my next appointment I'd be giving them a piece of my mind for not doing their job and kiss their you know what goodbye.

Because my therapist did this When I woke up from my endoscopy/colonoscopy procedure in a panic all the attending "Bonnie" had to say was my therapists name"Sue" to get my attention and then tell me to try and remember talking with "Sue" about what was happening, then took me through each step of the procedure " Sue told you you would have an IV right, well here it is. Is not a snake or anything that is going to hurt you its just saline which is water, Sue told you you would wake up and the procedure would be all done right well its all done, The only thing left to do is to stay laying on your right side until you can stay awake so I will let Sue in, I have a cup of ice chips to help you once you are awake enough to sit up." There were no conflicting voices or urges to fight after that. It was just ok, Sue is in the next room and Im ok and I fell back to sleep for a bit. I woke up sucking my thumb and "bonnie" telling me it was time to wake up and sit up.

Not only did Sue and I work on preparing me we also prepared my doctor by telling him I was a rape survivor and one of those rapes happened in a hospital setting so the day of the procedure everyone on the unit was prepared for any possible adverse reactions. Because they had the information they needed they all took the time to explain each step from my name being called to go in the unit right straight to the end where I walked out the door with "Sue"

Why your therapist didn't do these things with you is beyond me. But at least now you know your reactions and can prepare better for the next time With or without your therapist.

Gee whiz Monty girl, so far nobody has even been able to talk me into getting that probing pocedure done on myself.... Good Job!!!! Re: fiber. I have recently discovered Coconut Fiber (you can google for more info). Oh my is it yummy in my tummy and on further south.... I put a heaping TBS into my morning jar of juice, shake it up, and drink it down. Then do it all again in the evening. My body seems to love it which is great 'cause I love coconut. It's also helping me flush cholesterol -- yippee ki YAY on that one. Good Luck !!
