Anyone ever seen this show? It airs on Showtime. Very interesting. Tony Collette portrays a woman with DID and it's riviting to watch her switch and what happens to her family and social life.
Thanks for this!

there are many here that have seen it. I only watched a couple episodes. my therapist told me about it and advised me not to watch it because it doesnt accurately represent the disorder.

its show that uses dramatics /comedy for entertainment purposes rather than taken literally.

heres some links to other threads here that discuss the series..

I do not watch. I live it daily and it never goes away. That's enough for me. I do need to give away one of my methods of entertainment and distraction to it. And even if it's done well, I don't want to see something so horrible get Hollywood-ized for entertainment value.

I watched the first season out of curiosity but found it to be a little over the top. Imagine acting out like that in front of your family. It’s not possible. They would all end up needing therapy just to understand what was going on. Most of what goes on in DID goes on under the surface. It’s our journey to deal with. No one but someone dealing with DID can know what it’s like.

OOps, I see I hit on some nerves here. I'm a newbie. I'm experiencing alot of negativity expressed towards me on other threads as well. Yeup, I'm sensitive, so I will say it first.

Actually, I am going to not come back to this place again.
Thanks for this!

Hummingbird - please don't give up yet on PC yet. Sorry you were feeling negativity expressed toward you. There are a lot of nice people here and sometimes things get mis-read. I know it has helped me a lot just knowing there are others around like me.

PS haven't seen the show, but it is on my Que for netflix.
Thanks for this!

Does anyone know if the second season is available yet?

When I first 'read' on PC a year or so ago there was such a TV show I was appalled but...months later it was showing in my location and I did watch it.

Here is my take on movies, tv shows, books and other modes of communication dealing with this subject matter (as well as other subjects). All of these modes, to some degree or another, have helped me work through stuff at different times.

Perhaps the behaviour of Tara, is exaggerated for creative dramatic purposes in order to 'get a point across'. I don't know how to make a tv show so, I'm not sure how it could have been done any better. I could identify with her in some ways. There were some events that took place that were similar.

I wanted to see the second season because I wonder what the outcome is, wha happens to her and her family. She was in therapy, last episode.

I want a good outcome for me, for Tara and for all of you.
Thanks for this!

Hummingbird1950,

Don't go. I don't think you hit any nerves.
I just see honest answers to your question.

I don't have Showtime but I did rent Season One. I like the idea of the show and Tony Collette (sp??) is a good actress. I like how her husband tries to be supportive,I like how they show that her sister had problems seeing DID as real, I liked how her kids just accepted her group of insiders for who they were--that was nice. Obviously its all dramatized for TV and I do worry a bit about what people watching the show will think about DID. But its all for entertainment, and it has some slight educational value I think... maybe! Its a good show, what I saw of it anyway. I haven't yet rented Season Two or Three, if they are even available. I'd like to see it.

You can rent all the seasons through NetFlix on DVD. It's $7.99 a month. Otherwise I don't know where to watch it for free online.

Hiya Sadie,

I've heard that Hulu.com is a great site to watch tv shows for free.
