hallucinations can be part of just about anything.. not getting enough sleep, sleeping, not eating right, not getting enough fluids, stress, pushing yourself too hard, too much sun, too much exercise, breathing to shallow, breathing too fast, all kinds of things cause hallucinations..even thinking about something can bring on an auditory or taste hallucination. tell yourself a ghost story and then see how many thumbs bumps, creaks and groans you hear in the dark, think of your favorite food and feel your mouth water and tongue seem to taste that food..

some hallucinating is normal and sometimes it signals you that there is some physical or mental problem that needs to be addressed.

now if you are asking if its part of the diagnostics and symptoms directly related to dissociative disorders. no it isnt. but is part of the diagnostics and symptoms for schizophrenia, schizo affective, schizo typical , bipolar disorder and sometimes borderline personality disorders.

its also a symptom of many medical problems. google hallucinations and you will see there are over 14 millions things it could be.

the best way to find out whats going on if you are having hallucinations is by contacting your treatment providers (medical doctors, psychiatrists...) they can help you discover what mental or physical problem is creating the hallucinations.
