I have a friend with DID who had a stuffed bear to represent each of her parts.
I am a little slow to catch on but... I have a "rock collection" that has been slowly growing for a while now. I just realized that each part has contributed a rock to the collection once they were strong enough to work.

Anyone else have external representations of their DID?

Yes, quite a number of them. How great you have figured out what has been going on with the rock collection. I love rocks because I love nature.

Do you ever use them in your therapy, since you discovered what they represent?

Haven't been to see T yet but T doesn't work with parts "too messy".

Massage T has been trying to coax out a very scared, hurt little part for a very long time now. I am planning on bringing the little ones rock with me when I see her Tuesday. Don't know if the little one will feel safe enough to let massage T know why we brought the rock though. At least with massage T we don't have to worry about rejection. She does work with parts. She also has an interesting assortment of rocks around her office that we have talked about before. The littles ones rock is an orange elestial quartz which is kinda rare (I didn't know they existed until it showed up on my book shelf) so I know she will be interested.

Thanks

Thank

Omers,

I have a part that has a tractor that is kept specially in a box. I have taken it with me to therapy before but I don't remember if I took it out of my bag to show it to anyone.

It reads like there is a special relationship with the massage therapist and some of your parts but if the massage therapist doesn't work with parts it might be best just to show her your little 'elestial quartz' (What a lovely name. I took a peek at what one looks like on-line. They are so sparkly and cute). Just take all the time you need, is my take on everything.

If she doesn't work with parts why would she want to coax your little scared one out? I am a bit confused here. My thoughts are that a therapist who could work with parts would be best. The massage therapist likely means well but since she is already touching the body it may be a trigger for the little one. I don't want to make that suggestion but it's a risk you may not want to take at this time, especially if everyone isn't communicating yet. Cheerio Bye for now little Elestial Quartz

Massage T does work with parts... it is regular T that thinks they are too messy.
I get kinda confusing... I have T, massage T and Pdoc

Massage T is only licensed as a massage therapist. However, she has a ton of training and wisdom as a therapist. T referred me to massage T when I was needing touch as a part of my healing. I think T thought I would stop working with her and only work with massage T but they both have different things to offer. Massage T taught for a long time in a couple of therapy programs on the body mind connection. Massage T knows where different parts stay in my body or in relation to my body. She also knows things like the little one likes it best when massage T works on our belly and there is another part that likes to be wrapped up in massage T's green blanket.

I don't tend to trigger easily with touch any more and she works with the client having all their clothes on unless the client requests/needs something that requires working under clothes. Honestly if I was going to trigger with someone on my treatment team she would be my first choice, Pdoc second and T third. That would be the order the phone calls would go out if I were in crisis too.

I used to collect containers. Any sort of container--jar, box, file thing, ANYTHING. And I'd have containers FOR my containers to keep them in. LOOOOVED containers. And the strange thing is, now that we've been working on the DID stuff for awhile in therapy, and more insiders have come out to talk, I no longer have this strange urge to collect containers.

I have containers to store my containers! I get that one. My need for containers has lessened since I started sharing more about my history.

The massage therapist sounds pretty intuitive too Omers! All the best with introductions if they happen. It is my brain that is the confused one Omers, sorry for misunderstanding.

I just cleaned out a bunch of stuff today but still much to do. I got more bright containers to put some books in. I have to limit my books or I'll be buried in them...so I have 2 boxes of novel type books and 2 boxes of more specialty books and one big box of childrens books too. That is it! No more! I still have to sort through binders and throw away a bunch of unessential things. They aren't really a collection, more like just didn't have the will to deal with them when each class was finished, blech!

I need a massage therapist now, lol.

Worked away at it all for six hours and then another four hours and I'm only 1/2 way through cleaning. It's going to be much easier to keep things clean (not so dusty)...so getting there.

I kept my shells and rocks, buttons and badges. They are all in special places. They don't take up much space.

I keep trying to motivate myself to go through the 400 books in my garage and just can't. There are a bunch in my house too that I need to sort... So, I can almost relate.

today everyone is in turmoil... Not going to be a very productive day. Oh well, getting used to that.

Massage T is the best! Although she is a bit too gentle for some parts... but that is why we have T and Pdoc.

Kindle books could be answer for me, eventually.

Sorry to hear of turmoil...hope you can find some comfort, maybe in a book.
