Is the host me born or me alter? I ask because there is a me that is sad and feels an emptiness. She does not come around a lot. I am wondering if that is the me born. And I feel emptiness because my feelings are alters that I am unaware of. And so I feel empty inside. Is something like that possible?

here in my location the mental health community use the term "host" to designate the person that is diagnosed with DID (person born to the body the day they are born from their mother. ) and the terms "alter" "parts" "insiders are used interchangeably to designate the alternate personalities.

for me I knew I was the host because I was the one diagnosed. I was the one born to this body and I was the one that had the symptoms of dissociation and time loss (which designates switching into alters here where I live)

like I said before alters are anything that is needed to ensure the host survives. so how ever your system is made up / comprised of / or works is the way its supposed to work for you. so yes how ever you are is possible. if it wasnt you wouldnt be the way you are.
Thanks for this!

Great response... I think it helped me understand my "system" a little bit better.
Thanks for this!

I appreciate your response but that is the problem I don't feel like I am the one diagnosed. I feel like I am a greeter. I am who ever I need to be. It causes confusion in my mind when I try to think of myself as me who becomes others. There is no me. I am a door for who ever shows up. That is how it feels.

Claritytoo,

Well I think this is a wonderful part or host, you know whatever. I think being a door that greets those who show up is a marvelous kind of part. How helpful!

I don't know if my host is 3 but I think so but it was kind of hard to have a 3 year old host in a grown body so... after working together the adult parts are now taking good care of the little ones, including the 3 year old host.

Don't we all come in different shapes, sizes and all...aren't we amazing, really when you think about it. But, it does help to be in therapy and get the confusion sorted out.

All the best you and yours...hmmm 'door', wonderful, just wonderful...nice to me you.
