Hello All

I am not sure if this is the right forum to post this in but I got no
response at all when I posted in other forums. I took the sanity quiz and scored highest in dissociation. What does that mean? I scored 92 out of 100.
Thanks for any help you can give.

Hi cooper!

First things first, the Sanity Quiz should not be taken as professional advice. If you're truly concerned about the test results and want an actual diagnosis, you must see a professional.

A good guide to understanding dissociative disorders (and dissociation) is here: http://psychcentral.com/lib/2008/in-...ive-disorders/

Basically the jist is:
There are dissociative disorders, like dissociative identity disorder (DID, formerly known as multiple personality disorder or MPD)
There is dissociative amnesia (forgetting some things about yourself etc)
There is dissociative fugue (you forget who you are, and basically leave town and recreate your identity because you can't remember your past identity)

All of those three aren't exceptionally common, but we do have a few members here who have self-disclosed such diagnoses.

Other dissociation related things are derealization (detached from reality to some extent) and depersonalization feeling detached from your physical body, in a fog state)

Okay, so I tried to explain it but I probably made it more complicated.

The short answer: Dissociation happens to everyone in varying degrees. Have you ever driven somewhere and got to your destination and couldn't remember the journey? That's a bit of dissociation.

If you "tune out" when you get stressed and withdraw into yourself, you could be dissociating. The thing is, it's a very subjective experience (dissociation is) and it's slightly different for everyone.

Thank so much Christina86. You helped me understand it more.
Now I think I do dissociate whole lot. Is driving somewhere and
getting lost because its unfamiliar like you have never seen it
before only to realize later you've taken this route a hundred times
have anything to do with dissociation?

it just means thats how you were feeling at the moment you took the sanity score test..

I have taken it many times. sometimes it says I dont have any dissociative disorders.. lol I have been diagnosed with DID, Depersonalization, general dissociative symptoms with depression.....

diagnostic tests like this are not meant to be taken literally because its not the whole diagnostic process.. tests like this are used ***in conjunction with *** other psychiatric, medical and academic tests that a qualified mental and medical health treatment providers give.. when taken alone all they say is thats how you were feeling at the moment you took the test.. it isnt that you definitively have those problems and disorders. Just today right now while taking the test you felt how ever you marked the answers. and gives you an idea of what you may want to work on at the moment... kind of like high school tests and quizzes tell you and your teacher what topics, issues, problems you may want to work on more.
