A mixed blessing. Just coming to realize that he's my "baby" and will be leaving the area for about 4 yrs so he and his bride can finish school. I'm used to him being not more than an hour away. He's such a wonderful support and son. Sad and happy at the same time...

Thanks ((((Jan))))
Funny but I didn't feel the same about my oldest. Maybe cus he was such a free spirit and "flew the nest" early. Though I miss him--he's in CA. NOw I understand parents crying at weddings and feeling sad and happy... w_i |

You know, at least with this sort of sadness, its more of a happysadness. There is good coming out of it. I assume you like his wife to be as well?

I went through this almost a year ago. Such a mixed bag of strong emotions. You'll certainly be in my thoughts. Love, KD __________________ |

Thanks ((((((Everyone))))))
I do really like my future daughter-in -law. They've been dating for about 4-1/2 yrs (give a few months???) Anyway. Watched their relationship mature from her being an 18 yr old college freshman, and he a college Sr. to now. She's getting her masters sometime this yr. He's going to be finishing his PhD in NC and she will be taking classes toward hers. Much to be proud of. LIke you said KD, many strong emotions. I just can't access them. I know what is there, but don't really feel them---does that make sense to anyone??? Everytime I think I am touching a feeling, it gets blocked and some great task gets done--3 hrs of mowing the lawn, house cleaned, laundry done....but NO just being here feeling. No good happy feelings, no sad feelings. Just something far beyond my grasp. Like a shadow or a cloud.... I don't want to miss the wedding like I did my oldest son. I tried to be present, but lost so much of the event. W_I |

I'm so sorry you can't experience your feelings. I have been there. They are just too real and too vivid to touch.
