My t has been saying/suggesting that a lot of my alters have black and white thinking. That they came into existance for a certain purpose or specific job and it's difficult for them to see things other ways. Like they have blinders on.

Do others of you find this true for your other parts?

thanks

short end of things thats basically what DID is...heres where you can find the diagnostic criteria about this..

http://www.dsm5.org/ProposedRevision...on.aspx?rid=57

it is the very first diagnostic criteria. here where I live and work the term "categorical" is used to say the alters have to have their own way of being, their own job, purpose, reason for being, own way of thinking, own way of perceiving....

the diagnostic criteria used the word "distinct" for this.

most of my alters were this way. I only had a few that were not this way.. here where I live and work those that did not fit the diagnostic criteria were called "ego states" and "introjects" which is completely different than having DID type alters.

I have others who only do one specific thing. They hold a specific memory or emotion and interact with the host accordingly I don't have conflict between them because I mediate if there are any issues. Also some talk amongst themselves and most times agree to disagree. This does not usually effect how we function in the world. The ones who function in the world also have their specific skills so we can go to work, drive, fix stuff, banking etc. They stay to them selves most of the time and function in the world when they are needed. It was difficult for some of my others to learn that there were things that other alters did that they did not. It is not something we focus on. I accept everyone as they are as long they don't want to hurt each other or the body. We need each other and the body to function in the world and it is not nice to hurt anyone. We have had more than enough of that in our life.

funny. I just saw a subject like this somewhere else

I have parts that have specific jobs. and basically that is all they are. that's all the information they have. If someone in the 3-d world says hello. they can respond pretty normally. no one will notice any difference.
but if they get asked for opinions or questions outside their jobs they kinda panic and freeze up. and can't wait to get away from who evers talking to them.
and they are desperate for someone to switch with.

usually i watch all of this from a million miles away, and like it's happening to someone I don't even know.

and some of the others are kids. and kids are wicked literal. sometime people think the things they say are jokes, and they don't understand what's funny. but they laugh too, because they don't know what else to do..
