Here's a link to my thread posted in the psychotherapy forum. I thought I'd post a link here to see what you guys/gals think since I seem to have been possibly dissociating. What do you think? Any advice/ideas welcome.

I went back and read your past posts. I can understand how hard it is for you knowing yout therapist has to terminate at first I didnt know why thats when I went looking for your other posts. you stated she had to terminate because you were thinking of her more as a friend not as a therapist and it was hindering your sessions (I got this from your past posts stating you wouldnt tell her all the harder stuff because you were afraid she wouldnt be your friend if she knew. and a post stating your therapists supervisor felt the therapist had conter transference issues with you and her being friends.)

the link is to a thread about how when you went to make another appointment with the therapist that is terminating with you, the receptionist said no, that your therapist had told her not to make another appointment with you. because of that you went home, went to bed, and like you daydreamed/ slept for a while, at some point sleep walked did some laudry, you vaguely remember eating supper, you remember getting up and doing some online banking, you didnt brush your teeth, you remember you had a conversation with your grandmother. you remember texting an ex boyfriend and when the alarm went off in the morning it was hard for you to wake up.

here where I live and work in NY USA no this is not called Dissociating. here where I am this would be called having stress induced depression due to terminating therapy with a therapist, its also called the grief cycle here meaning if you were here where I live and work it would be called grieving for the loss of your therapist.

many places call what you are going through by many names..

depression
anxiety
Shock

my suggestion since you cant have any more sessions with your ex therapist place a phone call to her stating you may need contact info for a new therapist. the new therapist can help you move on through this transitional process of losing this now ex therapist.

By the way yes I have gone through termination "shock" "depression" "grieving" when ever I have had to terminate with a treatment provider. it what you are going through is completely normal, it hurts for a bit but will get better for you.
