Ive noticed that too, I print off posts and threads of interest and so I can see where those that have deleted or changed their names have come back on and posted once again. I have also been here for well over a year so have seen people post alot them not post at all sometimes for months and then when they start posting again they let everyone know they are back and that they had just gone on vacation, been in the hospital or just taking care of things in their real time locations having to do with their imediate familys, jobs, moving and so on. Alot of people I have noticed too change the times that they can come on line Sometimes those that come on during the day suddenly start coming on at night and vice versa so the regulars end up thinking they have gone away when in actuality their sleep schedules, work schedules and so on change, which means the times that they can be here change.

And yea there are those that come and then when they are ready to move forwards in their therapy and healing and so on beyond the cyber world of on line support groups and into their local community services and start developing support networks in their local areas so that they can have face to face tangible support networks and resourses when they need them.

And some just plain out take a break.

I myself have no set times that I come on here. sometimes for weeks I come on during the day and not at night and some times for weeks I come on at night instead of days and then theres sometimes when I come on every few hours and yet again there are times when I come on just for a quick 5 minute skim of the boards, my pms and my blog area and back off again and and there are also the times where I just have not come on for days because of things in my real life time and location needed to be taken care of.

So when I see that someone hasn't posted for a bit yea I think about them but I trust that person enough to know that the person will come on when he/she is able depending on their own schedules and other real life circumstances will allow them too.

No I am not "keeping a list of comings and goings" I am simply printing off threads of interest For example when someone posting something that I would like to try or a therapy approach that I am interested in.

After I print them off those posts on my print outs are permanent. That way for example if I have a problem with flashbacks and someones post helped me today. well the chances are that post is going to help me in the future so by printing it off I can look back on that post while in crisis and do the same thing again to help myself.

Kind of like how I use the Courage to heal text and workbook if something helped me once in there the next time I know how to take care of myself - just open the book to that activity or exercise and just do them.

later on down the road when I see the same post pop up again but now on the boards the person posting that post has a different name the persons original name is still on the already printed out threads and posts so I know who is changing names and so on.

its like my blog from time to time I reread my entries and notice a spelling mistate and I go back into it and edit. or even if someday I choose to change my name. Anyone that has already printed out an entry of mine that they found interesting and could help them will know if I ever change my name because on their printout the name is still "Myself" but the name on my blog would be different. So that person automatically knows when I change my name either by reregistering and posting the same problems and information and exact posts or my changing my name though contacting a moderator or administrator.

When a person does not reregister but changes their name the new name automatically appears on their older posts and sometimes I have already printed out those old posts.

The same for those that reregister when I notice a post or thread of interest I look into my files to see if I already have that post or thread of interest printed off and if so and the person has reregistered but is just reposting their post or thread I already have their old name and so I know what their new name is.

If I see something that can help me to understand what I am going through and so on yes I will be printing them off. I don't pick and choose by name what threads and posts I print off. if the topic is something I want to try or have experienced and or may need new ways of taking care of that problem those are the posts and threads that I print off.

There is nothing in the sites rules that state a member and or non member cannot print out posts and threads and blogs that they find of interest and or posts and threads and blogs that may help themselves to take care of themselves better.

I will no longer discuss in this thread or publically an attack on me and my choice to print off posts threads and blogs that I find interesting and helpful to me based on the fact that -

this thread was not started to deal with whether or not a person can print out posts, threads and blogs that they find interesting or can help.

It was because someone noticed a member had not posted recently and I was adding my support like another member did in that just because that person has not posted in a while does not mean that person is gone forever. and I gave examples of what I noticed here - that people do come back sometimes by reregistering or changing their names and that people from time to time take breaks from this site for many reasons depending on their own personal life and so on.

It is common courtousy to at least post to the person first and say "YOur post really helped me may I make a copy to save"
To say you are keeping copies in your file and keeping track of who posts what and by what name and changing names is really making it feel really unsafe. IF YOU WANT TO EVER COPY ANYTHING I POST I WANT YOU TO ASK MY PERMISSION FIRST.

" it is common courtousty"

myself it may be better if you ask before you do, no one here wants to argue, but we might feel safer if you didn't take it for granted that we don't care what is done with our words and thoughts.
Respect us and our wishes

I know your sense of safety has been violated. And even though we all know there is no guarantee of online safety, I'm sorry it was taken from you.

It seems your right to use and enjoy PsychCentral, as well as receive support, has been inhibited and restricted by a lack of trust and a threat to your system.

I don't blame you one bit for stepping back. ** woundedhearts **

Safe journey,

Petunia

--Myself-- While I'm sure that you are doing this for a good reason for your own need for keeping track and feeling safe, do you realize how UNSAFE that makes everyone feel.\? Personally, I think telling everyone what you are doing contributes to many member's decision to stop posting here. It's one thing to do it privately, for your own benefit, and another thing to post it as it looks to almost purposely trigger and scare and irritate others. I hoped you would have realized this when members suggested you not link or copy their posts into your blog, which I think was stopped. Please try and realize how sensitive everyone in this forum (especially,) is. ** woundedhearts **

I AM NOT COMING HERE AND TALKING BECAUSE ALL THE CRAP THAT "MYSELF" IS DOING AND BEING ALLOWED TO DO. MY RIGHTS, SAFETY ISN'T BEING PROTECTED HERE. I COME HERE JUST FOR PM'S NOW BECAUSE THE STAFF NOR DOES "MYSELF" SEEM ALL THE DAMAGE THAT SHE HAS CAUSED. THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO HAS BEEN THERE FOR ME AND SUPPORTED ME THROUGH MY PROCESS. I DON'T STOP COMING HERE BECAUSE I AM STOPPING MY HEALING PROCESS. I'M STOP PARTICIPATING BECAUSE OF ONE PERSON. IT IS "MYSELF" AND I DON'T CARE IF SHE GETS UPSET FOR ME POSTING THIS. THE ADMINS OR STAFF MAY NOT STICK UP OR PROTECT THEIR MEMBERS, BUT I'M TELLING YOU NOW I WILL PROTECT THE PARTS OF ME AND ME. PERIOD.

I appreciate that there are those who don't want their posts printed out. It is an option here and really there's no controlling that other than asking. I wish a good outcome with that.

You speak of admin and staff not protecting, etc. It's more of a limitation due to the environment. Even if that were a rule, there is no way to enforce such a rule...none. We're online and anyone, at any time, can read/print our posts as this is an open community.

Again, I hope you are heard in your requests, knowing that online communications are for sharing to a very wide and diverse audience.

I appreciate the responses here.
