We got a new workbook today. T gave it to us. She went to the ISSD meeting in California recently and have found a lot more information about dissicioation and trauma. Which is good. The workbook is called Growing beyond Survival A self-help toolkit for managing tramatic stress by Elizabeth G. Vermilyea, M.A. You can find the book here...

http://www.sidran.org/catalog/vegb.html

I'm excited to see how this is and the growth that I will be doing with this workbook. Others inside are really excited with it. Will let you know what we think of it.

-I - did this book 5 years ago with SKR my therapist at that time. -I - really loved it. besides doing it the way the activities stated - I - also branched off and made the activities fit what - I - needed for - MY - therapy plans.

For example -

instead of thinking of a problem and drawing a containment box - I - made one using a shoe box, colored construction paper, glue.

Instead of drawing my mental safe place - I - created a 3 foot by 3 foot by 3 foot diarama / scale medel version of - MY - mental safe place.

Basically SKR and - I - changed how - I- was doing the activities based on what - I - needed and what SKR and - I -were working on at that moment.

It made the activities more personal, individual to - MY - needs and - MY - therapy program

- I - benefitted much more from it because - I - could do more variety of things and add more details them what the activities were asking for and - I - found it so much more fun in the process.

For more information on how to make scale models and diaramas see link below.

Please remember that anything containded within my blog is MY experiences My therapy program and so on.

If others have a different experience that is ok.

And since I am unable to know each and every persons triggers on the world wide web I leave it up to the readers of my blog to take care of themselves when reading my blog.

I've read some a little so far. It seems like it is going to be an extremely interesting book.

I am addressing the original poster as this is HER thread, about HER and HER workbook not anyone else's. New Workbook

Perhaps those that want to discuss their OWN workbooks would be better off starting their OWN thread. New Workbook

Good for YOU woundedhearts. New Workbook

Please share with ME how it works out for YOU.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
