Just curious & wondering if anyone has had any positive experiences with any inpatient treatment options? Either local to where they live or went somewhere they where referred to...
I have been referred to Shepard Pratt in Baltimore, and timber lawn in tx. Though never made it though the admissions process?
And really felt to scared about whole new dis & therapists and strange people & then what after they would discharge me if they ever did?
But aside from individual therapy, what else is there, I've tried groups I end up worse then when I started?

I have gone through inpatient care many times including Shepard Pratt and Timberlawn. they are great programs that work with you on how to manage you present day to day life by managing your triggers. they teach everything you need to know, then when you are discharged its up to you to continue to use what you have learned in the centers to continue to keep yourself on track. its not like child programs where they babysit you, follow you to make sure you are ok, as adults in america, its up to each adult to maintain their own well being, health issues, unless that person has been appointed a guardian that makes their mental and physical health decisions due to mental or physical incompetency.

both facilities do not focus a lot of time rehashing the past. example your whole stay there isnt about tell me about the time this happened to you, tell me again about when this happened to you, tell me again about when this happened to you....

they work on Assessment testing to find out what your problem areas are, developing an individualized treatment plan, working on goals and you changing your behaviors which in turn changes the quality of your life.

here is some links that can tell you more about their programs...

I honestly would go if i where you. It could help you a lot. You may gradually get over the fear. you would go to your current therapist after discharge. They will discharge you unless you are danger to self or others then they can not discharge. ALot of people do not have that option to have speciality treatment. You are lucky.
There is online therapy . Besides that I don't know what else you can do besides self-help... work on yourself without therapy. Im not recommending because i don't know your situation but just thoughts.

I've been to PIW in Washington DC. I got a great jump on my T work from them & staff was awesome. Crappy part of town & not a pretty building but you're not there for that. Major thing I didn't like was that there was very little programming on the weekends. Lefts with too much time on my hands.
I had a great deal of trouble w/ my insurance & they did well handling it. Hope you have good insurance, makes less stress.
PM me is you have more questions.

I'm going to throw a stone and cause a ripple....
I attended both Timberline Knolls in Chicago and LaPaloma in Memphis. From what I can remember the programs were fairly decent. The problem I'd that I don't remember a lot from either place. During my treatment time I was admitted twice to both of these centers plus inpatient at hospitals over twenty times in about a years time. I believe thus happened because I was a different personality during this time. So one of my alters benefited from this treatment, however I did not.
