I can't really relate to this specifically. But in an e-mail an internet friend had recently sent me, she mentioned that she plans to listen to her inner voices in making decisions about what to do with her life over the coming months. In my reply e-mail, I said my inner voices have led me astray so many times I no longer trust them.

Things I did, that seemed to make sense at the time, now seem to me to have been at best foolish, & at worst just downright insane! I can't believe it was me who did those things. It's almost like someone else took over my body & did things I myself would never do. Or maybe that's just what I want to believe... I do think there is a sense in which I was able to convince myself that I was somehow special in the sense that the normal "rules" people live by didn't apply to me.
