does anyone get annoyed when you meet someone and they say hey, i remember you, but you can't remember the person?

either because another alter knew them and not you, or because you were just too switchy at the time you didn't really know what thehell's going on?

that happened to me this week.. someone claiming to know me but i didn't have a clue

It never really bothered me. I would just ask them how they have been and while they were telling me "inbetween" would go and get the info I needed about the person and who ever knew them would step up. Sometimes the person we were talking to was someone that we were annoyed with and when the part would step up it would be awkward because we had been too friendly and that wasn't our relationship. But it never seemed to really bother us.

no it never bothered me....short version I became DID as a very young child not even old enough for school yet. the result of this is that it was my normal to have situations where people I did not know would come up to me talking as if they knew me. example one day when I was 4 getting school clothes with my parents another child came running over to me. I didnt know who she was but she showed me her new dress and let me play with her new toy. in high school I had this was a normal occurrence through out my life. After I was integrated and someone I didnt recognize would start a conversation with me I would have to pay attention to whether they used a name for me in the conversation to give me a clue as to when and where I knew them. but usually if I waited patiently the memory would come to me of who this person was and when and where I knew them from because everything that was the alters memories were mine also after integration.

Yep, all the time. Doest happen as much anymore. But 10-20 years ago,it happened a lot. People would come up to me and talk as if they knew me, and told me about things i had said and done.and i wouldnt remember ever meeting them before.

I've met a few people that they swore to God they know me and that I went by a different name. I'm pretty unique looking, so a mix up is pretty improbable, especially in a small town of 350k population. I didn't think anything about it. Today I'm left wondering.

it bothers me more now than it did in the past. The more I realize the implications of my dissociation and forgetting, the harder it is to swallow how much I missed/still sometimes miss... It's not DID for me, but severe dissociation that leads to missing out on a lot. :/

no it doesn't bother me, but i can be accused of walking up to people that look like other people and asking if their name was so an so.whatever the name of the person i thought they were, how embarrassing when they get mad or uncomfortable i really thought they were the person whos name i asked them if they ere, i don't blame them. i just missed the person i thought they were.
