Host self-harms. She's my sister and I don't know how to help her she's been fighting self-harm for years and did a max of 1yr and 4mo w/o

I'm staying out until I can trust her again b/c she hurt herself bad last night even tho today is the body's bday.

How do I help?

Ryan

I think it would be important to talk to your therapist about the self harming. We have decided that self harming isn't fair to the body. The body has taken a lot of violence for us, so after discussing it with each other we decided it wasn't ok to hurt the body. Some will still think about doing it but we remind each other we decided to take care of the body and we move past the thought. And happy birthday to your body.

Thanks for the reply and birthday.

Thing is when she gets like that we get blocked out. It's weird. You'd think I could come out and stop her, protect her like I'm supposed to.

We're getting in with a new therapist at a DBT center soon but waiting for the approval from insurance.

We've self harmed, or at least the sad or angry one does. She's so sad and miserable and he's totally pissed at life. They only come out when the going gets super rough more than we can bare. It's the result of the distress we feel. The trick is to not go there. Happy belated birthday.
