DID type alters have their own job, purpose reason for being and if this alters job, purpose, reason for being is to play on the computer then thats whats going to happen... short version thats what having DID is. that said depending upon how your internal system is comprised there are things you can try... alwayschanging2 suggested making a schedule....great idea...this works for some people Another suggestion is figure out what the trigger is for that alter....example one of my alters would take control to do something playful when I would feel like I didnt have time to do fun things, when I got overwhelmed with responsibility all the time. the result of all this was I would have my dissociation symptoms and the alter whos job purpose reason for being was to have fun would take over. one thing thats known about DID is its a dissociative disorder meaning its through the use of dissociation that its created in young children and the alters take control when ever the one in control (host or alter) dissociates due to many factors...stress, trauma, not knowing how to do something so another alter needs to take control to do that....all kinds of triggers both positive and negative can cause a person or alter to dissociate (switch into an alter or a different alter) locate what that trigger is that is causing this alter to sit on the computer for hours and you will know what you need to do in order to not dissociate when you need to be doing other things... once I know the trigger for my alter was being overloaded with responsibility and not taking time to just relax and have fun the solution was easy. I started making time to do leisure/fun activities. that alter no longer needed to take control because I was now able to handle do this. that alter ultimately integrated with me because they were no longer needed to do that for me since I was now able to do that/handle that on my own. |

Well, we have tried to work on that to no avail yet...She has been spending a lot of money on gaming and that has ended, thankfully....I think she is really depressed and it is taking a toll on all of us....
