Hello flockpride: well, I've never actually received a formal diagnosis from any of the mental health professionals I've seen. So I guess I can't speak to this directly. However, I've been dealing with mental health issues for many years, at first, privately. But for close to 20 years now, "outwardly" as well. And I still find it difficult to accept that I am a person who has a mental illness, along with accepting some of what I have done over the years as a result of having it. I presume it goes with the territory. I now work to accept it... with compassion...

Yes, it's been 4 years since diagnosis and I still sometimes think it is all wrong. There are 2 parts of me that tend to think that. How's that for not making sense

I mean, everyone sometimes says, "one part of me feels ...another part of me feels..." So how is this different? Yeah, I know, distinct parts taking control, blah blah blah. A part of me thinks it's total b***s***, this DID. A really angry part that wants to break things.

There are parts of us that totally believe it, some not so much, others barely, and some that are still in disbelief and denial.
Some are totally destroyed because of this, some don't care or not bothered by it, and some are interested. It's just a matter of opinion of who you talk too. To me, it's like a whole new world to explore because I get it....I always have, but made to be quiet all these years. Some of the others would have you to believe that it's the end of the world and life's not worth living, while others say "whatever". |
