how many of you have 2 insiders with the same name

question: how many of you have insiders with the same name?

i do, i've got 2 insiders called natalie.

1 of them is the protector, and the other one is a little child- is this normal to have 2 with the same name?

actually the second natalie i only recently discovered.

think she was being quiet or something, but i now know who she is and i find it odd that she has the same name as our protector

is it normal?

i have had four, two of who had the same or similar name as each other. i wasn't able to figure out if they were child/adult versions of each other or change ages or separate, etc. i currently do not know anything about any of them though to figure it out since they went quiet several years ago. but it always was something i wondered about.

I had many alters that responded to the same name, even my birth given name. for my internal system this was a protection so as to keep the "secrets" and such. i mean imagine if I had walked around as a child saying hi Im amanda, hi Im louise, Hi Im thelma, Hi Im rainy, hi Im thelma too, Hi Im Amanda also...

the point is my internal system was comprised to ensure secrecy and survival so they all answered to each others names including the birth name. if I had a friend who thought my name was red then no matter who was out took on the name red at that given moment. for quite a few of my alters we never knew whether the duplicate name was that alters actual name or whether it was a shared name for protection of the secrets purposes.

bottom line my treatment providers and I did not worry about who was named what. for us it was more important to work on what my symptoms and problems were and stabilizing, not what to call who and why. if someone said their name was thelma thats what they were called that day, regardless of whether they were that name tomorrow or next week.

We try avoiding the same name game. We so many it's already confusing enough

I don't have two with the same name, but some have similar names. And I have a Natalie too. She likes dolphins!

i am still curious how this works. to elaborate on what i said above (ran out of time to get into it more), i have (or at some point had as i don't know who is around still) two alters with a similar name, grace (unsure of age) and gracie (young) and then kate (20s) and katie (young). i do not know if kate and katie were the same or not, but i'm pretty sure grace and gracie were not as grace apparently is an angel or believes herself to be, and i do not currently remember anything about gracie except her name and estimate of her age. i also do not remember much about katie except i thought she was seven but might be ten or maybe just thinks she is 10.

the strange thing for me is when i looked at childhood pictures years ago and it jumping out at me who was who in two specific pictures when i really had very little insight into them...it was just like...there two of them were with a tiny bit of feeling that it was them which i guess was how i knew it was. it was weird putting that connection together..and that is off topic.

but since i no longer seem to have the communication i had years ago, it leaves me not knowing who is who.

i do know that when any of them were closer to the front or were more out (not sure how to word that as i tend to blend with them in a strange way), they would not identify themselves by name to anyone external and seemed to not know who they were at times if they were too far out (again, not sure how that works or why that would happen), so they would either just kind of respond to my name or not really at all...and it is very confusing for me, so i'll probably never figure out any of it.

that's actually sort of scary.

We have names, but to me it's not any kind of big deal because we are all part of one. We respond to the system name just the same, it's like we are all just different flavors of the same.

It's like, we are each a gallon of paint of different colors and shades, and if you pour us all in to a large container that will hold us, hypothetically, what you see is who we is suppose to be.

It'll probably be some weird purple/brown color! Lol.

I understand what you mean by parts being in front. My parts mostly respond to my name when in front. Sometimes I don't respond at all and other people really don't like that.
