so came up with this idea this morning.

random acts of kindness

so.. the idea is that each week, someone does a random act of kindness for another member here

this could be:

someone's littles like drawing, so another member sends them a link with pictures to print out

someone in the forum is struggling, so someone else sends them a hug or leaves a positive comment on their profile to help them along

stuff like that.. i think it would be a cool way to get to know each other- not only as hosts, but as systems to

i'm thinking of creating another thread.. with systems likes and dislikes, where everyone can post theirs- and we can try this

thoughts?

Thanks for this!

love the idea of this thread but I see one problem or rather my own thoughts playing on this idea... random means not planned, spontaneous.... if planned through a thread telling us to do so its really not a random act of kindness is it. to me it kind of feels like if someone told me to shake hands with my neighbor if I go shake their hand is that a random act, no just doing what I was told to do.

to me a random act of kindness is what I have already been doing with out anyone telling me I need to or should or how about doing this...

like last night I saw a toy behind the dresser I knew one of my children was looking for so I took it to them.

when I see a thread I like on here or someone who I think could use a hug I already click oon the thanks or hugs with out someone telling me I should try doing that.

when I see a post that hits home with me or peaks my interest or I like\resonates with me and my life I already do reply to it without someone else telling me to or turning it into a planned activity.

see my point my mind is stuck on when does something stop being a "random" act and become a "planned" act or a "should do" act.

like the idea but I will probably just continue with random without adding a planned part to it because in my mind its not a random act if someone is making a game out of what I am doing or will be doing in the future....

another thought if someone who reads this thread sees random acts are being planned how sincere should they take it if someone thanks or hugs them. do they get to believe that person did it only because a thread told them to do it, or because the thanker was sincere and did it out of actual random non planned to do.

(dont mind me I have this same problem with facebook birthday wishes you know a majority of people who wish someone happy birthday on facebook really did not remember that persons birthday and might not have other wise said happy birthday if facebook didnt post at the top of the page its so and so's birthday today dont forget to wish them happy birthday and to get rid of that notice you have to wish them a happy birthday, so when I see people have so called randomly wished me happy birthday it really doesnt make me feel good that they remembered my birthday, I know its a planned thing\game with facebook)

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
