My son is getting better. He is still in physical therapy for his physical injuries. He is right in the head and back to being the son I know. He doesn't have a grasp on how he got into the hospital. He also seems to have an in the moment sense of himself. He doesn't ask about the accident and doesn't really know what he will need to do to help himself once he is on his own. It has been explained to him but there doesn't seem to be a deeper desire from him to better understand how he got were he is. He said he will take his medication because it doesn't cause him to feel bad and because the doctors are asking him too. That is not the same as saying 'I realize there is something off so will take the meds until we can figure it out'. I am concerned he will almost immediately stop his meds and maybe be in a worse situation. I am trying to remind myself to life in today and not focus on the past or what might happen in the future. This does help. In fact I think it has also helped some of my parts to think about their situation. Either was I will always be there for my son. I love him so much. But I don't want him to become dependent on me. He needs to work on his mental health and move forward. He can do it. It's in him if he will only take the time to look..
