and how did you all get through it?

fortunately (or unfortunately), depending on which way you look at it, we didn't do anything for it- and didn't get too many trick or treaters either

for some reason though we did get very frustrated we wern't doing anything for it, and regardless we still had a lot of dark thoughts to deal with

what about all of you

we had a great time here. halloween was never a trigger for me. In my culture Halloween is like memorial day. we take time to honor those that are no longer here. my family also chooses a theme where we decorate the whole house in that theme, our meals and candy reflect that theme, our costumes also reflect that theme. example one year our home became Sesame Street. this years theme was Hogwarts. My children have discovered the joys of harry potter this past summer. we took the kids out around the neighborhood and checked out some of the neighborhood decorations and came home with enough candy to keep a dentist in business. one house in the neighborhood was a labryinth\ maze complete with music, ghosts, goblins and popular characters from the movie Beetlejuice. A good time was had for all here in my neighborhood.
Thanks for this!

mine was difficult. i never have liked it. luckily, i'm in a place where i don't get trick or treaters, so it was one less anxiety provoking situation to endure and didn't have to shut off lights and pretend i wasn't home/put a sign on the door.

i had some kind of traumas/weird things happen for some halloweens in the past, but nothing too significant. i think it being made into a time where things could happen, etc. is partly why there is such fear for us with it and also having lived for several years with a lot of terror.

it's not really a favorite for us and is usually full of anxiety and what ifs, waiting for something to happen for some reason.

If was fun to get some trick or treaters. We only got 14 but that's more than last year.
