when someone truly gets it

not, "so is it like this, that, etc", but actually gets it

we were called by the system name over the weekend and that surprised us in a good way

and made us happy

my question: outside of professionals, how many people do you have that, "really get it?"

we have the people on this site

and we have a couple of people who we email sometimes who understand

toyah, who's been in charge of our mental health team for a long long time totally gets it.

we love her understanding. it means the world to us

so.... your turn

We don't have names as my p'doc thought it would make things worse. It's rare to find anybody who understands and doesn't run away as fast as they can. My p'doc talks to the others but they often don't stay out that long or they switch too quickly. Other professionals in the mental health field are clueless.

I am pleased that you have found some-one who understands and seems to have a grasp on what is real.

Nobody knows except for the therapist. It would feel great to be called by name outside of therapy.

No one. I've tried to clue my husband in, but I just get this blank look or a funny kind of laugh from him.

Yay...I'm happy for you.

We still try to stay a hidden system in this male world.....and any recognition would be so devastating. As much as we want or claim freedom....we are still a slave to status quo.

Financial security is our bane.

New T gets it. That is quite a big deal, as it has been very difficult to find a T who gets it here. Have been through many to find this one.

Ex T, who is still supportive of us through email. She trust her more than anyone in the world.

Have our DID friend, who lives in another country and skypes with us every now and then.

We don't really like to be known.

can you expand on that?

why would having names make things worse (or in this case, A system name)

we're called atlantis, and it's not really a problem

beats people talking to who ever it is that's out and calling them by the body's name (emily)

just our thoughts
