What disability services are you able to get? I don't know if it's worth trying to get disability. Obviously it would help with stress if I could quit one of my part time jobs but I'm not expecting to be able to. I'm also wondering about service dogs and what it takes to get one and if anyone has one.

examples center for independance musclular dystrophy association United Cerebral Palsy ARC (Association for Retarded Citizens) which is for people with mental retardation/ downs syndrome and other associated problems Office of vocational Rehabilitation (for people with many different mental and physical health problems) OTDA (temporary disability services) VA (veterans Affairs which is any services that anyone that has served in the military may need) county mental health private mental health mental health services based on grouping of mental disorders ie inpatent or out patient... there are many many more disability services here in NY some based on ones disability and others generalized to serve all people with any mental or physical health problems as for service dogs most locations now offer a service where a person selects and buys their own dog then attends obedience and service animal classes that offer licensing credentials for the dog but there are places like American Foundation of the blind, and any hearing specialists can put a person in touch with the right places that fit the disability and needs of the person who needs a service dog due to physical disabilities and any mental health treatment provider can help their clients get set up with the right agency for getting a service dog for mental disorders based on specialty of what mental disorder and type of human, the service animal needs to be matched with, it isnt a one dog fits all kind of thing. service animals through agencies are specially trained to what the client needs are and what the client is like and what the clients life style is like. example one would not want to match up a dog that needs to stay home in a quiet atmosphere if the client is one with an active and busy life style with a big booming type voice with lots of family members that include children. my suggestion is contact your treatment provider or your medical health provider. they will be able to point you to the right mental and physical health services that you may need and that which your insurance plan covers. (if you are in the USA its still federal law that everyone has mental and physical health insurance. yes you can pay out of pocket if you choose to but my opinion is why pay mega bucks in the hundreds out of pocket when you can have insurance pay for it ![]() |
