I was just wondering for those with DID when different parts are out do your pets respond differently? I was watching a movie with two of my young Parts last weekend and my cat jumped up on the arm of the couch she seemed very disturbed bit me and ran off she then spent the rest of the movie sitting on a chair about ten feet away just glaring at me. The young part in particular was out again this week and again she's glaring at me she won't come near anymore is anybody else had these experiences.

I don't have pets, but my T brings her dog to work with her. I was told that the one time one of my littlest came out during session, her dog did react completely differently. Like she could immediately tell ther e was a child instead of someone older. The particular little in question is 5 yearrs old.

no. my cat doesn't. she is her own odd self though and has variations of how she is which isn't always consistent. cats are just weird in general.
she used to sleep at the end of the bed for years. several months ago (when i started to sense things were more off than usual), she stopped sleeping there. i don't know what caused her to stop. she doesn't like to be held or on a lap. she just has her own preferences of when she wants to be pet, for how long, etc. (one pet too many, and she bites lol). i don't know her reason for certain things. it just kind of is how she is. |

Our little Cleo taco dog does. If a little tells her to go out she wont till a big shows up, then she listens.
The same with calling her, she avoids the bigs but comes when the littles or gentler parts are out. But she'll take food from anyone. |

edit to add.... pets biting their owners is sometimes a symptom of a health problem in the pet, or a startle reflex of something like someone pulled their fur or the tv sound effects in movies... for this my suggestion is contact a vet who can check on your cats health issues that can make a cat suddenly attack its owner like rabies, parvo (yes cats can get parvo) cancer /leukemia even something like being jealous of another animal can cause a cat to bite, Last edited by amandalouise; Aug 06, 2017 at 03:36 PM. My wife has two dogs and they more or less avoid me, but love my little and will look up when she arrives and hop on to the couch with her.

Yes. My therapist was the one who noticed this. (I take my dog to sessions.)
