It seems that I dissociate when I am speaking. The level of stress involved makes it worse. If I speak about something for several paragraphs worth I will not be able to remember what I said if asked. Does this happen to anyone else?

I experience all kinds of dissociative things when I am speaking. Not all the time. But they can happen any time. The examples I am talking about all involve another part of me talking or taking my thoughts away.
Sometimes I can hear that "I" am speaking but it is not my voice and I don't know what "I" am saying.
Sometimes I forget what i am saying mid-sentence.
Sometimes I know what I want to say and I start to say it but then the knowledge is taken away from me and I cannot remember what I want to say. (Sometimes this is not dissociative for me and sometimes I know it clearly is).

The level of stress can worsen the dissociation. When the same happens to me I will not remember what has been said. It feels like I get pushed to the back.

Some people are co-conscious and do have the capacity to know what has been said.

I've been dissociating more then usual. I've been getting better at catching it though. When I do dissociate, I will sometimes say things that are out of character. Dissociating is very stressful for me. And I feel awfully guilty when I realize that it happened.

Ask for those whom hear, practice repeating what is said and don't be hard on yourselves

Yes it happens...social interaction is very triggering.

This all happens to me. Usually though, I know what was said and then forget it within the hour. Most common is thought snatching. Just yesterday Sire was talking to someone and couldn't finish his sentences. The thoughts just vanished. He figured someone didn't want him talking about that. Sometimes we switch in the middle of speaking.

This is my main dissociative issue. I do not remember everything that I say. It causes extreme confusion in your personal relationships. If I had been able to find a therapist who could have explained this to my loved ones my life would have been so much more stable. I would have felt safe again!

This is exactly what I experience. I can act-out in these other states and say things that are out of character for me. If I could remember I would apologize but I lose the memories. It makes me feel guilty also.

Absolutely! I only learned that late in my life. If I had loved ones who could have helped me remember what I said, I would not have lost the memories either. I now have some memories of this occurring. I do not call this co-consciousness, just recovered memories.

i find often (depending on the topic and the level of anxiety or stress it brings) that i dissociate when i'm speaking and people are speaking to me. It generally happens when i have to defend myself against something somebody claims i did It's gotten to the point where i can feel it happening and I generally will focus on one object and repeat it's name multiple times it helps a little
