I was watching a movie when I began to realize I had already seen it. So as I watched I remembered the scene only I couldn't remember the next scene. Or the end of the movie, so in some ways it was like watching it for the first time only I know I saw it already. What the hell is that?

I do that and I don't have a dissociative disorder. It could just be that you forgot the movie or maybe when you watched it before you were distracted by other things and didn't pay close attention to it.Lots of times I get phone calls or go online while I'm watching movies and don't really get engrossed in them.

There's so many movies that I watch and realize I've only seen bits and pieces of them and not the entire thing so it's like watching them for the first time really.
Thanks for this!

I wouldn't read to much into this. I don't have DID either and that happens to me all the time. Same thing when I re-read books.

Thank you Shazerac and RubyRae. It's not something I have had all my life. It's frustrating sometimes. Once I know I have seen the movie, I try to think of the plot and how it ends only I don't remember how the movie story line goes or the end. So I end up watching it again and when the movie is finally done I think to myself, "Of course I remember that movie". But if I hadn't re watched it I wouldn't be able to describe the movie or it's ending.

I'm like that too.I think it's a pretty common, normal thing. My husband irritates me sometimes because he will swear we haven't watched a movie before and then we will sit and watch it together(again) and then 3/4 of the way through he will say oh yeah,I remember this movie, says how it ends and then changes the channel.Grrr!

i had that happen recently, except i didn't remember any of the movie at all..though it seemed a part did remember watching it as the memories of the scenes were kind of there. it was very strange. it was a children's movie. i was completely confused. and the last time i watched it, one of the little's (or maybe more than one) was watching it too.

it wasn't the 'usual' knowing i watched a movie and not remembering as i will be able to know that i watched it and remember something about it better but just don't remember due to boredom or just tuning out for whatever reason.

That happens to me all the time but I can't really help you as to what to do with it. I also forget characters while I watch a movie and get confused as to what is going on.

Sounds like deja vu movie style, huh? I don't watch much by way of tv or movies but that's kinda how I wander through life in general. Lol.

I have deja vu often. When I do I think of it as letting me know I am in the right place.

If you re-read through replies you will see that myself and at least one or two others have said they experience this and don't have a dissociative disorder.

It's a fairly normal, common thing for many people, with or without a mental illness.

like rubyrae said if you read the other posts in this thread you will find that there are others here that do not have DID that also go through this. if you read other threads around psych central you may also find others here that have this same problem but do not have DID.

Oh,sorry,I guess you did specifically ask her.
Was just trying to let you know that yes,it is experienced by those that are "non DID", myself included.
Thanks for this!

I read the other posts. I just thought you could elaborate more on the subject. I'll google it.

not sure what you are looking for in asking me to elaborate...

your question was....

Is it something non DID people experience?

answer.... yes

why is my answer yes ...

because as Rubyrae has pointed out there are people posting in this thread who are ........non DID and do experience .......the same thing you do.

my opinion no elaboration on my part was needed.

What do you need elaborated?

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
