It's only my 3rd session with the DID therapist, but as I was describing some of my alters, and how they came to be, she said "I believe you," Part of me sagged with relief. I've had two decades of trying to convince myself that I made up all the abuse I survived, or that I was over exaggerating. So to hear someone say this to us was a wonderful thing. I still have a heap of shame about sharing some things with people, no matter if they're professionals, so this was reassuring for all of us.

That's wonderful. It is such a relief to be believed! Hopefully it is the beginnings of a strong therapeutic alliance that can help you begin to heal.
My now ex T suggested I share about some of my inside parts with my new T next session (will be my 2nd full session with her) as a way to begin to form a connection. New t is also a trauma therapist and so far she seems to know quite a bit about DID and how to work with parts. I will give it a shot and see what happens.
Thanks for this!

To simply be believed relieves a lot of pain. It is so good to hear this.
