One way I try to stay untriggered to extreme emotional parts at work (or any where else) is to not let things get to me. This helps my parts from triggering (mainly through my bipolar knee jerk reactions).
A co-employees has noticed and complimented me on my ability to not get bothered and wishes that he can do the same. Only if he knew. Sometimes I got to swallow hard and sweat it, holding back the eruption. We as a group do this because this is our livelihood and most of a social group we will ever be in. I guess it’s impressive to “turn off”. I find this to be one of our best coping methods....to shut off all emotions and tirelessly monitor and filter all incoming stimuli. I don’t know if this is healthy and takes quite the self-control at times. Not being hypomanic at the moment is a plus. He keeps asking me if things bother me, and I say “yes” flatly. More then he realizes. Do you all do the same, or ever tried to stay calm and present like this? Or have tried it? We’ve been doing this since grade school...and until recent reinstated this technique...this keeps the outlandish emotional parts at bay and stops any rantings and ravings. Be like Spock, lol |
