I'm taking it for my psychosis which is way better now but I need this med so that I can feel things again. Does it work for you? What are the pros and cons?

I was on it for my bipolar disorder but my treatment providers took me off it because though it worked for my bipolar disorder it worked against my dissociative disorders.

basically how it works is adjusting the chemicals /levels of the neurotransmitters in the brain. short version it made me think at a slower rate which is good for people in manic phase or having hallucinations/delusions have a chance to think about what is really happening before reacting but bad for my dissociation problems because in order to get anything done (think on my feet or in the moment) one of my alters would end up taking over and doing what needed to be done, rather than my being able to stay grounded and deal with the problem that needed getting done.

@amandalouise one of your alters? I have a dissociative disorder (psychosis/depersonalization) and my psychiatrist said it would help me think more on my feet .. Hmm

At the time I was on it my diagnosis was Dissociative Identity Disorder which is a dissociative disorder where a person has two or more alternate personalities.

I tried Saphris once, one day. It knocked me off my feet and left me unable to function.

Hiya sickchick. I was my very first dose. It sent me to sleep for 6 hours not long after I took it. Yes very sleepy. I know other meds have done the same to me yet I have persisted with them and my body has gotten used to them. I don't know what I would have done if I had to function with life.

I do not have Bipolar, Schizophrenia or psychosis so my p'doc went onto another medication. Please don't ask me what it was cos I have no idea.

I hope things are getting better for you chick.
