Had a car accident. No serious injuries. Well, to the people.Still waiting on car's dx. When ambulance arrived for us, the one of us who had been driving was very upset. His blood pressure was over 200 so EMT insisted we go to hospital. Wanted to say: let me get one of the others & it will be lower! But that's exactly what we did in the 5 minute ride to the hospital.Dropped it to 140. Still high, but acceptable after an accident. Now I'm wondering if that was a good idea. How will we know when there is a problem that needs attention? Doc recently started a lecture on getting the flu shot, stopped & commented that the 3 years we have been with her we hadn't been sick, so no lecture or flu shot. Any thoughts?

Woah, sorry about your accident! How scary. It seems like you were able to calm your overall physiology somewhat by switching into a part/alter that was calmer. It's good that you were able to do that.

so sorry about the accident and so glad you are ok. to answer your question yes that can mask serious health issues. I have MS which is a serious neurological physical health problem where the protective covering of the nerves no longer protect the nerves and this causes many kinds of mental and physical problems. back before I was integrated it took much much longer to diagnose this very painful, debilitating disease. At one point I almost died because of switching. not purposely switching I had no control over how and when and who I would become. but any time I encountered something triggering I would automatically switch into the alters that handled that trigger. for me it wasnt like I could say ok my blood pressure is too high lets switch into Rainy now. it was crack of thunder my feel numb spaced out disconnected and Rainy would take over. as a result of this switching based on my dissociating symptoms my doctors could not get test results other than my dissociative results of my feeling numb spaced out and disconnected and wanting to go home change my clothes and watch some tv with a snack.

I did at one point try and control my automatic functions, yea I was that determined to get rid of this DID and alters. I discovered that even with biofeedback I was not going to be able to control things like my blood pressure and heart rate. I became good at breathing control and fluctuating the heart beat on the monitor but there are just too many of my physical body organs / systems tied in to my heart and my circulatory system for me to control for hours.. example when I was doing bio feedback classes my heart rate would not go down or up, when the instructor and I sat down to talk I discovered that what I ate the night before was hindering the process. my body had certain spices and condiments from the night before that was still traveling around my circulatory system, add to that the meds I was on, how my organs were functioning... now I laugh at myself on the lengths I went to back then. lol

my point please be very careful of purposely switching like this, you can cause your self and your alters more harm then good.

I’m glad everyone involved the accident was okay. It’s amazing how some people like yourself can consciously get other parts out to handle situations when called for.

I don’t think that I would take meds for another alter if the body mainly stay at a certain normal. Like adding a blood pressure medicine would then affect the normal body causing a low blood pressure., right?

Being that you are seeing a doctor regularly (yes), there shouldn’t be anything to worry about.

Accidents are such a pain in the butt. Wish you well.
