Sometimes things pop in my head like this. I went to the dentist Mon. I had the needle put in my inner cheek. She lacerated me and there is a hole a little smaller than the the size of a pencil eraser there. It hurts when I eat and I was thinking about it and a thought popped up thats a sinus infection when its clearly not. I have these thoughts not based on reality sometimes. I know they are not real.

Sounds pretty normal to me.Everyone has thoughts. Not every single thing you experience or every thought is due to dissociation or DID.

I have had a stomach ache and thought to myself maybe it's an ulcer when clearly it wasn't reality. Most people do the same.

Try to take off your dissociation/DID goggles sometimes, you will save yourself a lot of stress and worry

Why would it be normal to think something that's not based on reality. I knew it was from the needle so why would I think to myself its a sinus infection? Not trying to be annoying. Just trying to understand. The rwo are not even connected.

Cause maybe the pain reminded you if the pain that comes with a sinus infection.IDK,how's anyone here supposed to know why you thought that?If I told you something I thought would you know why? Of course you wouldn't.

I'm just saying not everything is DID,not everything is alters. You are only seeing the world through DID goggles now.

And even if it was an alter that said it,is it even important or matter?

Yeah, I can see that. Mainly because I dont know how to tell the difference with alot of things. If I think go to sleep Timmy is that just a random thought or DID? If I think "lets" go to sleep is that just a random thought or DID? If Im asking myself can I sit beside myself is that schizophrenia or DID? If I think I want a steak and cheese when I really dont want one is that DID or maybe subconsciously I do want one? See, it's very hard for me to tell these things. My last therapist thought I could have many disorders. This one thinks all my symptoms are DID. How do I know who to trust?

I believe that I completely understand your confusion and the reasons for it. For instance:

My body stopped working and I fell headfirst into a depression the depths of which I didn't believe existed. About the same time, I was diagnosed with a physical ailment called myasthenia gravis. Myasthenia gravis is Latin for "grave muscle weakness". So how exactly was I suppose to be able to tell the difference between the "I can't get out of bed" because of a major depressive disorder (which I had never experienced before) or the "I can't get out of bed" because of the "grave muscle weakness" which I had also never experienced before? In fact, was I even depressed? Or was it all the myasthenia gravis? How could I tell?

Turns out, I couldn't tell and as a result, I laid in bed and nurtured the depression from hell for years thinking it was the myasthenia gravis. Since the way I address each issue (depression and my myasthenia gravis) is different, it was important for me to know which was which. Pushing through a myasthenia weakness can cause death. Anyway, knowing which was which allowed me to better understand and care for myself.

So, tough answer: You don't know who to trust and you're not going to until your are able to determine for yourself what's related to what - and even then, you could be wrong. We do the best we can.

The mind tends to brainstorm when looking for answers. If you are in the living room and the roof collapses and your mind is immediately going to start racing trying to assess what caused the roof to collapse so you know how to respond. Tornado, airplane crash, fallen tree, and 412 other possibilities are going to go racing through your brain in the first second or two. About 400 of them will be some degree of ridiculous. I think betty is right, everything is going through a DID filter right now. Doesn't mean that's not the answer...but doesn't mean it is.
