Hi, I've had depersonalization/derealization disorder since I was 8. I dissociate from my mind a lot, and at this point I don't really feel like a distinct person, just kind of empty.
Something that I've noticed for years, though, is that I get certain feelings about certain things, like songs or hobbies or people or memories. I have a lot of trouble describing exactly what I'm talking about, because this isn't really something anyone I've met has ever discussed, but I guess these feelings are almost like another sense, somewhere between smells and emotions. Sometimes I'll get sort of obsessed with one of them, and I'll assume that it describes my personality, but then I'll just get obsessed with another one a few days to weeks later. It's like everyone and everything has this sort of essence except me, who is just blank.
Is this a normal part of dissociation? Has anyone else experienced this?
Thanks!
Hugs from:

Dear natey83,

I have never experienced that but hopefully others who may have will see your post and respond to it. I wish you only the very best!

Sincerely yours, Yao Wen
