I will have a conversation with someone in real life and repeat the entire conversation out loud when I am alone later that day over and over. I don't know why and I have done this for years. It is really embarrassing when I am compelled to do it in public. I try to speak super quiet but I just can't stop myself.

its normal. its called self talk, talking to yourself. brainstorming, ruminating.

there is mental disorders where a person constantly repeats the same thing/ phrases / behaviors over and over again, a few in fact but they are not dissociative disorders. they are OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorders) and psychotic disorders.

if you think you may be doing this more than normal and may have one of the many OCD or psychotic disorders contact a treatment provider. they can diagnose and get you treated for it or adjust your present medications.
