Here's something I shared in a different forum, but I thought I'd also share it here:

I'm alone for Christmas, too. I'm trying to find ways to cope with loneliness during this Christmas holiday. One of those ways is through reading fun news articles like the one above, as well as visiting fun websites like the Santa Tracker, also linked furthest above.

Other ways I cope is to stay busy, join online here, call trustworthy and safe friends and family, clean and organize my apartment, give myself a spa day, cook a favorite meal, listen to Christmas music or other music in the background, maybe do an art project, maybe buy myself a gift or treat myself to some contactless delivered meal, etc.

How are you coping with the holiday blues?
I'm wondering what challenges you all face as fellow dissociators, and how you will all cope.

For me, I try to give my littles playtime. We work together to ensure that our system of all our alters are safe, grounded, in communication with one another, and co-conscious.

For others who still lose time and lack adequate therapy, there might be workbooks for the littles that you can buy for DID (I found some on Amazon), or you might try journaling while also concurrently taking moments to ground yourself. Journaling with your alters, even with drawing pictures, will help the communication and co-conscious process, even though it seems scary. Other books on DID, including that from Haddock, might also help explain your condition a little more.

Doing a lot of self-care through eating healthy, getting movement in - even if it is just house chores, getting yourself (yourselves) presents (even home-made presents like making a favorite meal), and finding things in your home that remind you that you are safe and still connected to the world, such as when you can log in online here.

I'm alone for Christmas, so I struggle with loneliness, too. It's not as bad when you have alters to help, but it's still lonely for all of us.

We hope that you can find ways to stay grounded, enjoy the holidays, remain safe, and feel connected - at least online here.



What are some ways that you are celebrating Christmas and/or coping with Christmas blues?

NOTE: This post is particularly for those who celebrate Christmas. If you don't celebrate Christmas, we'd love to support you in a different thread that you post - such as "A thread for those who don't celebrate Christmas but feel lonely," or something to that effect. I'd love to support you there, too.

But for many of us who do celebrate Christmas but are nonetheless sad and lonely, or struggling with dissociation while stressed, I posted this thread here for added support.

May everyone have a Merry Christmas! (-At least for those who still celebrate it.)
