My T said that the goal for me isn't to integrate. Integration isn't for everyone. For me, the goal is rather to manage our dissociation, which includes different tools that are based on your symptoms. Hopefully your T is helping you find the tools that best work for you and all your symptoms. (((safe hugs))) |

It makes sense that your therapist understands you can't fully integrate since your alters are also imaginary friends. Imaginary means only existing in imagination, not real. I don't really understand, are they alters as in DID or imaginary friends? How can they be both? Also, how is Zelda teaching you to be a system? Do you mean helping you be aware of your system? How to work together? I'm glad Zelda is helping you through your trauma. And I hope you don't mind my questions. ETA: or maybe I misinterpreted your post and it's your therapist teaching you to be a system and work through your trauma? |

I think Zelda means the alters are needed and feel like “imaginary friends “ to them, maybe. I had a similar thing where when we were little we thought of our alters as imaginary friends because we didn’t have real friends so we made fictives as friends.

Thank you but I am hoping Zelda can reply. One can only guess what another person means and we probably shouldn't speak for other members like that
