I joined a FB DID support group. A member asked how to git rid of an alter. I told them they could put the alter in a timeout or safe jail until they were ready to deal with them. I did this with "monster," who was always trying to hurt us. Later I met with Monster and realized she is a scared and confused 9 year old. I renamed her Lily. The support group said I was encouraging abuse and putting away an alter like that is abusive as the alter will become more traumatized. Lily let me know that was not her experience and we are all good. I don't know why I still feel awful. Maybe because a bunch of people used angry emojis and calles us abusive. We are sensitive. On advice of a friend, I left that group and came back here. Last rime I was here was 2011 I guess. I never ever remember anything like that happening here.

I'm so sorry that that happened to you. How awful. I hope you will feel most welcome and comfortable here on these Forums and want to wish you all the best! I haven't been on these Forums as long as you have but have found the people here to be kind hearted.

that's horrible. i understand why that happened, because that can be the case in many ways, where locking an alter up can make them feel even more like a monster, more unloved and more resentful, but that is not the case every single time, and it takes careful assessment of the situation to figure out what may be the best approach. with an alter that is actively trying to hurt the body or even kill it, i would say that is the best approach at the time.
i'm sorry that happened to you. you are not abusive for that. especially since you are now on much better terms with lily, and surely giving her the support she needs to thrive. |

I read this, and I'm now wondering how they are a "support group", since that doesn't sound very supportive at all
I'm sorry it happened |

I joined about a dozen facebook DID groups. Haven't been there that long but given enough time someone will eventually trigger me.
This forum here, I've been triggered to suicidal levels countless time! Even this DID area here despite being very slow here. That's humans, nothing to do with facebook. Last edited by FooZe; Jun 07, 2022 at 07:20 PM.. Reason: Administrative edit to bring within guidelines |

I joined this site struggling to understand my mental health issues and hoping for a sympathetic ear or at the very least some sort of advice or guidance but instead I get silence. Always silence. I thought the point of this site was to support others and make them feel a little better but clearly that's not what it's for ...

Yeah the point of the site is to support others and maybe help them feel a little better. It's quiet lately though, particularly in some areas. I glanced at one of your posts, (about meds).. I personally can't offer support on that since I'm allergic to many meds Feel free to start other threads on other topics. There are people here who try to respond and offer support or suggestions. I personally have been mostly away for a few weeks. __________________ |

I would definitely be more active on this board if others were. I have many thoughts/questions/ideas that pertain to this particular board.
