My SO has DID, the causes of this were all external. When I met her, I had no idea there were alters, I though I was dealing with one person. Mistakes were made, on both sides, and now her life is a mess. I want to clarify, I love this girl, unconditionally (as much as this is possible). I have and will continue to make great sacrifices for her. That I made things worse for her makes me feel about an inch tall.

We could really use some help from anyone who has had experience under similar circumstances.

We need help in order to get things moving in the right direction, firstly for her QoL, and then for our relationship.

Thanks in advance.

Thank you, @WezLee, for reaching out like this! Your girlfriend is very lucky to have someone like you. You really love her. There is still such a stigma regarding people who have other someones inside them. Think of a person's brain & body as an ecosystem. It seems that most people live alone inside their ecosystem. Although, you have many very smart cells that live in your ecosystem with you, & you know that they do lots of things you know nothing about. So imagine what it might be like if your brain had more than one mind in it, your mind & another mind or more others, & they have their own personalities. So you can tell from what they say & do that they are different from you. I have others in my inner world who are definitely not me. I'm not delusional. It's very difficult for me much of the time. I hope your girlfriend isn't suffering. If she is, be there for her with comforting words & kindness. I think that would help a lot. The best of luck to both of you!
