I feel like there's so much confusion for me with this diagnosis. I know it fits and makes sense because of experiences that I've had, but at the same time it feels like everyone that I meet or see with DID knows *so much* about their system and their alters, whereas I know practically nothing.
My therapist has assured me that I know more than I give myself credit for, but it feels like as soon as I start to gain any information about a possible alter, they disappear and it all stops feeling real again. I hear this is a normal experience, but going through it is so confusing and makes the whole thing feel as unreal as everyday life does. Has anyone else here felt this way about a diagnosis? This has been the most surprising and difficult of my diagnoses to accept, because sometimes it feels real and sometimes it doesn't. Which is normal for dissociation, but confusing to experience. __________________ ~ Dissociative Identity Disorder ~ Complex-PTSD ~ Major Depressive Disorder ~ Generalized Anxiety Disorder ~ ADHD ~ (traits of) OCD Cymbalta 120mgs, Abilify 5mgs, Prazosin 8mgs |

Have you considered getting a second professional opinion about this diagnosis? Might be worth doing...
I have major depression with psychotic features and have experienced dissociating. It can be really hard. My friend was diagnosed with DID and the therapeutic approach of concentrating on her other parts, especially when she wasn't feeling them, actually was rather too much, she found. I hope there are others here who can answer your question better than I can. And I hope you feel better. |

I just got diagnosed and I'm in the same boat. I know my "little" is annoying as hell, and there's one that abuses the fk out of my body and mind, but I know so little about DID and how it affects me other than "boom, where tf am I and what am I doing?"
Would like to know how to figure this thing out. __________________ If any chord that I could strum Make me feel less like a man I'd slam my fingers in the doorway And shatter all the bones So I could never strum again |
