I learned to wait until I had integrated some of my alters before I decided if a new or unfamiliar memory was true or not...... as some of my younger alters could become confused as to what happened as they tried to sort things out....... just give it time.

And to answer your question......

No, I have never heard of any one having DID with out some form of trauma bringing it on - the severity of the trauma is different for each individual - some people cannot take as much trauma in their life as other can before they split in order to survive.
