My brother was down to visit me saturday. For everyone who doesn't know me very well I'm very close to my brother. He's like my child, I cared for him when he was an infant. Made sure he was feed and did his homework. All the normal mom things, even though I was only 6, almost 7 years older then him. Still needed a mom myself. But he's mine.

Well anyways, My vacuum cleaner quit work. ( Something to do with the on/off switch. ) I've been pulling my hair out cause I haven't been able to clean the way I want too. It's an OCD thing. T say's I clean to keep things a certain way. Making orginization out of choas. I say I'm just cleaning. But I guess normal ppl don't spend 5-6 hours on their hands and knees cleaning their floors with a tooth brush and rag. ( It's never shiney enough! )

Well anyways my brother made the comment that he knew I was climbing the walls cause I couldn't clean. So he brought me his old vacuum cleaner. He said he remembered me being like that when he was little. Said I was always cleaning and had to have everything in it's place. I don't remember any of this. I thought this was something that just started like 2 years ago. I guess some part of me has been deal with this OCD for a long time. Interesting when ppl can fill in the blanks for you.

Yes, OCD can be like a coping strategy for many of us, a way to feel some control and make things feel safe. Makes sense that it would have been used as a coping strategy long ago also.
