I separated from my 4.5 year girlfriend back in December due to a variety of reasons, but because she had nowhere to go and I had been supporting her financially I let her stay as my roommate. Bad idea.
More than once she's gotten drunk when she's upset and then turned abusive. The relationship ended in the first place because she became physically abusive when drunk back in December. She's made no improvements to her life or behaviour, takes almost no responsibility for her depression and drinking and kept playing on my weaknesses to manipulate me. The whole thing just played itself out again because she found out yesterday that I've started a healthy relationship with someone new and she proceeded to get drunk and violent, which really triggered my PTSD because she always backs me into a corner and I can't get away from her. But this time instead of engaging her I just left. Today I've officially filed for her eviction. Because we were only common-law and not married, she has no legal status in this condo which I own. Unfortunately, she has 10 days to either leave or to bring this to court so for now, the ball's in her court. She first threatened suicide, then tried crying and begging and when she realized I wasn't engaging her at all she just shut down and closed herself in the other room. If she tries to engage me over the next few days, I'm going to give her a firm and consistent message that I'm not engaging her, and if she displays suicidal or violent behaviour I'm just going to call 911. I'm finished with this. I deserve better and my new partner shouldn't be taking me in with this baggage. I want a fresh new start with someone wonderful, who has been super understanding and supportive throughout this situation. Thanks for reading my rant. |

She just came in with a note on how she's going to make all these changes if I can just give her a bit of time. I responded by giving her the official eviction notice. I'm managing to keep a straight face and a cold demeanor and I'm without a doubt going through with this, but it's hard.
