I am new to this and not sure if I am posting this correctly. I have recently expressed my feelings of being unhappy in my 5 year marriage which I fell obligated to do but have 2 beautiful children out of the marriage. Years of lies and infidelity a switch went off in my head and enough was enough. My husband was not thrilled and decided to become angry and aggressive. We are now having to dealing with criminal charges and a divorce. I have so much guilt and sadness for my children who are extremely confused. Ive wanted out of this marriage for a while. I feel lost and scared.

Dear Chelsea1230,
What an utterly heartbreaking situation! I can't even imagine what you must be going through. Since I have never been married, I am the last person on earth to offer you advice. Hopefully others here . . . others who are going through a similar situation or who have gone through a similar situation will see your post and respond to it with something really helpful. I also hope that these Forums will be a warm and welcome refuge for you from the ordeals you are suffering. I wish I knew what else to say. My heart goes out to you! Sincerely yours, Yao Wen |

It sounds like you have good reasons to leave. You have a right to be happy and safe. I recently left my wife after 22 years. I felt such shame and guilt I could not make a move until my therapist told me that all comes as a result of mourning the death of your marriage. Once I had that perspective I could understand where it all came from. It is not easy. But each day gets a bit better.
